You can think of tags as keywords for blog posts. Tags help you organize your posts and complement your categories. While you typically classify your posts in a few categories, you can associate numerous tags to your posts. This helps your visitors find other related posts within your blog.

Importing and exporting tags is beneficial, especially when dealing with a lot of them. So see where to start in our updated Help article.

We also enhanced the statistics page in Quick Blogcast with these features:

• View statistics data since August 2008.
• Daily reports for post views.
• Reports for tracking IP addresses of blog visitors.
• Reports for showing blocked comments and trackbacks.

You might already know templates are design and color combinations you use to quickly create websites. You don’t even need to know HTML or Web design. But your sites still look like a professional built them.

You can switch between most templates, and all your content carries over, displaying in similar locations on your Web pages. To explore all the design options templates offer, just click the Templates tab in your site builders to get started.

Quick Blogcast displays separate Web feeds for your posts and comments, in both RSS and Atom formats. Quick Blogcast also generates a podcasts-only feed in RSS format.

Just scroll down to the Syndicate section of your blog’s home page, copy the link for the Web feed you want to submit, and then paste it wherever you want to submit it.

Want a quick rundown about Web feeds? Wikipedia has a great article. But here’s the short-short version:

It’s all about this big orange button. It seems to be everywhere online these days. Clicking it subscribes visitors to a Web feed, usually in RSS or Atom format. It displays the site’s latest updates, which visitors then read with aggregators. Those usually display content from multiple feeds.

You can also submit a Web feed URL to aggregators. If you use Quick Blogcast to sell stuff online, sites such as eBay®, Yahoo!® Store and Amazon® typically let you submit Web feeds to display your products.

You also have the option of moderating all comments on your blog. By enabling this feature, all comments are held pending your approval in the “Visitor Interaction – Manage Comments” menu.

To make things easier, if you have a Deluxe or Premium Quick Blogcast plan, you may automatically delete spam comments. Check out the Help article on Managing your Comment Spam Protection in Quick Blogcast for more information on this feature. Enable this option and your Manage Comments screen should become spam-free! You can view deleted spam comments in the “Manage Comments” screen by following the steps in the Help article, Managing Comments in Quick Blogcast.

You may also want to blacklist spammers to combat the spammers at a very granular level. Each spammer’s email address or IP address may be banned, preventing them from posting on your blog in the future. To do this, just follow the easy steps in the Help article, Blocking and Allowing IP Addresses in Quick Blogcast.

• Allow anonymous comments (Check/Uncheck) — Commenters don’t have to leave their name and email address to comment on your posts. This makes it quick for commenters, but all you may see is their comment and the IP address of the commenter. The commenter displays as Anonymous.
• Moderate all comments (Yes/No) — When you select this, comments remain in Pending status and display on your blog only when you manually approve them. However, you can create “whitelists” on the Manage Commenters page to choose which visitors can post comments without any further approval. You can also create a “blacklist” on the Blacklist page to designate keywords, IPs, email addresses and URLs that mark comments as spam.
• Email new comments (Check/Uncheck) — You receive an email notification when someone posts a comment. You can read the comment, reply or take other actions, such as approving it or marking it as spam.
• Allow HTML in comments (Check/Uncheck) — HTML tags commenters enter save and display. There still may be filtering of some tags and attributes, but most HTML tags are allowed.
• Enable the “nofollow” tag in comment links (Check/Uncheck) — This one depends on the Allow HTML in comments setting. If you allow HTML tags in your comments and select this setting, the “nofollow” attribute applies to any href links in user-submitted comments. It reduces the effectiveness of certain types of spam.
