If you’re using the latest version of WordPress, you can log in to your WordPress control panel, and change your domain name right there. This is a huge step forward from the complicated process before.
However, there are still some additional worries you should take note of:
- This process only works if you still want to use the same hosting account.
- You have to copy the files to your new domain name’s location (or leave them alone if you are just changing the domain name on your hosting account from the old to the new).
- You have to change the new domain name’s DNS settings to point to the hosting account.
- Your WordPress site will be down until you complete all of these changes and they propagate throughout the Internet, which might take up to 48 hours.
