Locked Customer Accounts

Date Submitted: 11-28-2012 by leslie

Not what you're looking for?
We want your feedback!

We recently upgraded our security requirements for customer account credentials. To continue to keep our customers’ accounts as secure as possible, we took the precaution of locking those accounts that no longer meet our security requirements.

If your account was locked because of this change, you need to update your customer user name and password to unlock your account. The lock simply protects you from having someone access your account without your permission. All your products still work while your account is locked.

To unlock your account, follow the steps listed below. If you need personalized assistance, you can contact our 24/7 technical support team. We want to be sure you can access your account and manage your products.

  1. Log in to your Account Manager using your Customer Number and existing password.
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. Click Account Security Settings on the left.
  4. Complete all of the required fields (marked by a red asterisk).
  5. To change your login to something other than your Customer Number, update the Login field.
  6. Create a New password, and then confirm the new password.
  7. Click Save Changes.

Thank you for your understanding and, as always, thank you for being a Go Daddy customer.

Did you try the steps outline above? If your account is still locked, try resetting your password. Here’s more information on how to do that.

I renewed my domain name in December. Somehow, that renewal didn’t “Take”. I had to rebuy the domain name via auction. I have my authorization code. They say i can’t do it until 2 months from now. WHY!!!!

Still locked out. What are the next steps?

  • by leslie on January 28th, 2013

@bsandoe – your site shouldn’t be down if your account is locked. I encourage you to contact customer support via our 24/7 support line or online ticket. We’ll get you up and running.

    Hi There

Not sure if this is relevant to this section but here is my question –
I set up a Godaddy account (website/email) on 7th February 2010 for ONE year.
After the ONE year expired but I had lost all my mail??? I renewed for TWO years and will expire 7th February 2013 (a week from today) and I tired to renew for Five years however I am still receiving the “Domain Expiring” Warning – I’m just afraid I will lose all my mail.
I tried to Log Out to see if it would reset and remove the Warning but it still exists!
Can you tell me if I will lose all mail or not?

  • by leslie on January 31st, 2013

Hi Derek_Gorman – it sounds like the email was renewed but the domain name was not. If you go to your Renewals tab, you should see the expiration date of all of your products. If not, give us a call and we can help you out.

So what exactly does that mean, your account did not meet our security requirements? I have a WP blog with a security plugin, BPS. This message is rather cryptic as to why certain accounts got “locked”.

  • by leslie on March 18th, 2013

@CRVA – the security requirements refer to your account log in credentials, not the the applications you’ve installed on your hosting account. Hope this helps.

I purchased the domain name ‘KINDILLAN.COM’ some years ago. Recently I failed to renew as I was out of Australia and didn’t get the notice. I now don’t receive any emails and I don’t have any records relating to the domain name setup. How do I revive this domain?
