Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) use digital signatures to authenticate a domain name’s DNS. Now you can enable DNSSEC for the following domain name extensions:
- .co
- .com.co
- .net.co
- .nom.co
- .co.uk
- .me.uk
- .org.uk
In case you need a refresher, here’s a brief explanation of how DNSSEC works: DNSSEC addresses an identified security risk and helps prevent malicious activities like cache poisoning, pharming, and man-in-the-middle attacks. It uses a digital signature to create a chain of authority. Then, it uses the chain to verify that the source domain name, which the DNS resolver returns, matches the DNS record stored at the authoritative DNS. If it cannot validate the source, it discards the response.
We currently offer two types of DNSSEC: self-managed is available to all customers in the Domain Manager, and fully managed is available only to customers with Premium DNS.
