Preventing the “Cannot verify the identity of the website” Error

Date Submitted: 12-22-2009 by godaddystaff

Not what you're looking for?
We want your feedback!

Have you gone through the work of installing your Go Daddy certificate only to test it and get an error message? It happens. We hear about these issues on Twitter, via email, and over the phone.

The issue is in the first sentence. The word certificate is singular. It should be plural.

You need to install two certificates. Install your own certificate and either our intermediate certificate or our cross intermediate certificate, depending on what our instructions say.

If you still get errors, even after installing the intermediate certificate, contact our support department.

I’ve run through the instructions above, still getting the error “The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website’s address”. HTTP works fine, HTTPS returns this error. I’m using GoDaddy as domain registrar and SSL certificate provider. I’m using Zoneedit.com for DynDNS services and nameserver services (these nameservers are registered at my GoDaddy domain). My server is behind a Fios router/firewall set up to Port forward these appropriate protocols to my server’s home network, internal IP address. I am using Zoneedit’s zynDNS dynDNS client on my server and not the router’s internal dynDNS client. Does this intermediate certificate, plus SSL certificate, and the above instructions enable the useof this scenario of using dynamic DNS and external versus external IP addresses?

Using Apple’s “Mail” on a MacBook (running OS 10.6), I am getting this certificate identity error for pop.secureserver.net for two GoDaddy mail accounts in my domain. I have certificates for “mail”, but not “pop” in my keychain access. I recently cleared my keychain to work out network problems, and now I get this error a couple of times when first starting the Mail app. How do I add the cert for “pop.secureserver.net”?

    Thanks for any help.
