Use Your GoDaddy Domain with Office 365

We want your feedback!

DNS configuration isn’t exactly something synonymous with fast, until now. In less than a minute and a half, Microsoft® Office 365 can update the DNS records for your GoDaddy domain name!

With Office 365, you can use a custom domain name with Exchange email, Lync instant messenger, and SharePoint sites. Manually updating your DNS records requires patience, solid instructions, and a sprinkling of propagation fairy dust. Now, if you want to configure your Office 365 account to use your GoDaddy domain name, the DNS setup wizard in Office 365 handles everything.

You simply enter your domain name, Office 365 checks to see if it’s registered with us, and then you log in to your GoDaddy account to verify registration. Next, you select which Office 365 products to integrate with the domain name (Exchange, Lync, or SharePoint), and then click Set up records. That’s it! The DNS setup wizard configures the records behind the scenes — and, from start to finish, the process takes less than a minute and a half!

For more information and detailed instructions, see Office 365′s blog.

Don’t have a custom domain yet? No problem! You can purchase one at GoDaddy.com, and then use the Office 365 DNS setup wizard. In the near future, you can even purchase a GoDaddy domain name directly from your Office 365 account. Stay tuned for details!

Do DNS settings remain with GD servers or are servers changed to Office365 domain servers?

@khakiman: You continue to manage your DNS here at GoDaddy. We worked with Office 365 to create a wizard that updates the records on your behalf, which saves you time!

This looks like a great tool. Will it work with Office 365 Small Business Premium?

@Chuck A: I apologize for not responding sooner. The DNS Wizard is available in these versions of Office 365: Enterprise, Midsize Business, Small Business, and Educational institutions.
