.XXX Landrush Starts Today

We want your feedback!

Today, the Landrush phase begins for .XXX sponsored top-top level domain names (sTLDs). The .XXX TLD provides an easily identifiable extension for the adult entertainment industry, its consumers, and those who want to avoid it.

Landrush
Nov. 8 to Nov. 25
Begins and ends at 16:00 UTC (9:00AM Arizona time)
- 1st Year $199.99 — Price includes $100.00 application fee and $99.99 for domain registration.
- Applicants are not required to have registered trademarks, intellectual property rights, or existing domain names.
- The registry does not validate membership, approve .XXX domain name applications, or permit refunds for Landrush applicants who do not complete the ICM Registry membership application process by Nov. 30.
- .XXX domain names with multiple applicants will proceed to a closed auction.

To pre-register for General Availability, you must select the phase and we’ll submit your application when that phase begins on Dec. 6. Pre-registration gives you the best possible chance of securing their .XXX domain names (or blocking them from use as .XXX extensions). Successful General Availability registrations will result in either resolving or non-resolving domain names beginning Dec. 6.

For more information about the Landrush and General Availability phases and the .XXX extension in general, see these Help articles:

You can also get more information by visiting our .XXX Pre-Registration page and the ICM Registry site.

So this is really not good because now we all have to buy these .xxx domains and part them to prevent PORN sites from using our trunk names.

So who benefits from the high registration cost? At $99 that is 10 times what a regular domain cost . Does the bulk of profit go to sellers/resellers domain sellers or ?
