Due to SOPA Support (see ref) I’m leaving in 2012

Perfect choice of words Minze, the same narrow view and short term planning taking the path of least resistance even if it hurts the very internet that your company has built itself on the back on… That’s exactly what I want to avoid in a hosting/domain company.

No matter what actually comes from the SOPA Bill, and what goDaddy’s stance is on it in the end I will be removing my 3 domains, and 3 hosting plans and going somewhere that supports and free and open internet, not fossils making laws that cannot comprehend.

I too have moved my personal domains to a new registrar. The position adopted by GoDaddy with regards to SOPA is deplorable, and the disingenuous language of your EVP’s published statement only serves to further confirm that I am making the right decision. I will be strongly advising my current and clients against renewing existing GoDaddy products, or using them for future purchases

I have two domains and plan to get a third shortly. I will be moving my current domains away from GoDaddy and will be registering the new domain with the registrar I move to. SOPA will kill the internet as we know it and would greatly reduce how many people have domains since a large number will get seized because they anger a big business. I don’t know how GoDaddy can support this action, but all I can say is I’ll be glad to leave.

Previously moved all but one of my domains, moving the last right now, that’s 13 of them with private registration and all. Have a co-worker who’ll likely be moving his 2 businesses, hosting included, from GoDaddy. I will outright offer to pay any transfer fees for friends that may have domains at GoDaddy as well as assist with the transfers, the companies I work with will be transferred, you will not receive any more business from myself or anyone I am associated with, I will make very certain of that.

Transferred 10 of my domains away from GoDaddy
Persuaded the company I work for to transfer 189 domains and they register 3-5 per week.

No issues with service whatsoever, but refuse to support you in the light of this issue.

131 domains on GoDaddy and your position on SOPA is the reason why I am not renewing any of them with you, and actively moving the ones that mean the most to me. You’ve screwed up.

Even though I only have one account here, I will be moving it from GoDaddy to another service that doesn’t support SOPA & Internet censorship.

moved my 8 domains to namecheap yesterday, i was ready to move after the elephant hunt fiasco, but this was definitely the last straw. see ya! off to convince everyone i know to do the same
