Slow Page loads
bondj said 1 year, 2 months ago:
I purchased two years of hosting for a client, this was the cheapo plan. Came with DNN and the like. The serice has been less than acceptable, the intial page load is slow every day some times mutiple times in the same day. Like the shared host plan is being moved from server to server or the app pool is being cycled. My user tries to upload images, it rarely works, most of the time IIS bombs. What the heck is going on. I already talk to support, they tried to blame it on DNN which is complete garbage, I run it in dedicated environment for other clients and it works fine.

@bondj,
I would advise reviewing the information in the following link to help determine where the slowness is stemming from.
Also, if you could reply back with your Domain name we would be happy to review it further.

http://www.precisionpavingandgrading.com is the domain.
The results below are from WebPagetest.
First View – 34.739s
Repeat View – 1.652s
Like i said, it appears that the app pool is being cycled which is then causing the entire ASP.NET Application to be reloaded into memory. This is happening several times a day.
Any help would be appreciated.

@bondj
I ran your site through the tools at WebsiteOptimization.com and received a warning for the following areas:
Total Objects
Total Images
Total CSS
Total Size
Total Script
Images Size
Script Size
CSS Size
You will want to analyze and optimize these areas for quicker load times.
Hope this helps!

So correct me if I’m wrong here. Godaddy offers 4.95 a mo Windows Hosting Plans that can include .Net Nuke CMS and the official stance is that I’m required to optimize the CMS to perform optimally on said hosting plan?
As I see it, you may be selling a service that out of the box does not perform as adivertised. Although this was not my initial issue it definatelty is an issue if you’d like to make it one.
My initial problem, is that the sites application pool is being cycled through out the day and causing slow INITIAL page loads. This issue will not be resolved by optimizing CSS and images.

@bondj
On a shared Windows hosting account, the application pools are individual, not shared. Therefore, we don’t schedule for your application pool to be recycled, as you have the ability to recycle the application pool through your account.
Furthermore, Dot Net Nuke is not our application. While we offer a quick installation into your hosting account, we don’t manage the code for this application, including the optimization of the site. The information I have from a 3rd party is that the size of your content, including images and CSS files, is slowing down your site. You may also want to make sure that your database is optimized.
I found this information from DNN on best practices for performance on your site:

Let us know if there is anything we can help with!

Baillee,
Im not talking page load time. Pull the page right now, it should be fine. Pull again in a few hours, it will be slow, then pull it again after the intial request. You’ll notice its faster on the second request.
Baillee said 1 year, 1 month ago:
@bondj
It will be faster on the second request because my browser will cache the static information, like CSS and images. I see that your page is loading slowly. I have verified that there are no current issues on the server, and your application pools are only recycled when you do so through your account. I highly recommend reviewing the information I provided you to optimize your site.

Baillee, you’re not listening… read my problem again… the first two posts. it has nothing to do with browser cache or dnn optimization and may very well have nothing to do with application pools being cycled. All I can tell you is that initial page requests are very, very slow… from any browser, I can switch browser and the second page request is lightening fast… Did you read the results?
The results below are from WebPagetest.
First View – 34.739s
Repeat View – 1.652s
I ran several in a row and here mare my results.
First Go~
First View – 39.402s
Repeat View – 2.154s
Second Go~
First View – 10.172s
Repeat View – 1.682s
Third Go~
First View – 3.667s
Repeat View – 1.654s
Fourth Go~
First View – 3.654s
Repeat View – 1.726s
Fifth Go~
First View – 4.536s
Repeat View – 1.528s
In addition I’m finding that if I register my site here and have their service hammer the pages within the domain that things appear to run more smoothly… what gives?

Same problem here. My domain name is bohramatrimonials.com
When I try to hit the site, its slow on the first load, and pretty smooth on further loads. As @bondj said, it cannot be a cache issue because the pages load quickly on the 2nd and further attempts, even on a DIFFERENT browser.
Pls advice.

I have been having issues with site performance also. I am using the supposed “4G” platform. It turns out that there is a problem with one server that is causing the performance issue. I get the feeling that I am not being hosted on 4G at all. How can one server, the server I am being hosted on, be causing my site to load slowly and go offline? It pretty much contradicts 4th gen “Hosted across multiple servers with proprietary Dynamic Traffic Management” with 99.8% availability don’t you think?
Baillee said 1 year, 1 month ago:
@bondj
I have my Advanced Hosting Support team reviewing this for you.
@alib & @effectual
I was unfortunately unable to duplicate the issue you explained. Can you please provide a traceroute to your site at the time it’s slow so we can take a look?
Thanks!

ye ol run around. Good work Godaddy!
I’d like my money back for the two years of hosting I have paid for. How do I pursue this? I’ll be writing a more length response this evening when I have the time.

@bondj
I’m sorry to hear that. If you just reach out to our Support Team they would be happy to assist you.

i’m having the same issues with my site and it seems like the idle timeout is still set to iis’ default, which would cause the slow first time hit since my site doesn’t get enough traffic to keep it loaded always.
