I have a new dedicated server with Fedora 8, SquirrelMail version 1.4.17-1.fc8 and Simple Control Panel. I can receive emails, and view emails in squirrelmail, but when I click the squirrelmail “filters” options I get

Could not log on to timsieved daemon on your IMAP server localhost:2000.
Error Encountered: 255

Thanks for any insight anyone can offer.

I got this solution from Godaddy support and it works. Jason in Server Support even made the correction and tested it. Thanks Jason.

This issue is caused by a misconfiguration of the /etc/imapd.conf file.
Specifically, the paths listed in that file for the tls_cert_file and the
tls_key_file variables are incorrect.

old incorrect imapd.conf file
tls_cert_file: /etc/pki/tls/certs/cyrus-imapd.pem
tls_key_file: /etc/pki/tls/certs/cyrus-imapd.pem

new correct imapd.conf file
tls_cert_file: /etc/pki/cyrus-imapd/cyrus-imapd.pem
tls_key_file: /etc/pki/cyrus-imapd/cyrus-imapd.pem

Same error, same squirrelmail version. Used same solution, and when service restarted (service cyrus-imapd restart) per godaddy support, it shut down the mail system. Changing the file without restart gave the filter option, and showed the filters. Upon logging out and back in, the filters did not display. Support said they DID replicate the problem, and sent me to THIS ARTICLE, which I had told them in the first support ticket, I had already tried this. Their last response was “for $49.95 (for 30 minutes) we will review it for you”. I have had a private dedicated server (unsupported) with godaddy for over 5 years. How about a little customer appreciation?

@pagesbytom

I’m sorry to hear you were not satisfied with the support you received. From your post it seems that our support team did attempt to assist you with this to the point that we could without requiring more indepth research from our Expert Hands service. Unfortunately, we are not the developers of Squirrel Mail and so the level of support which we can provide would be limited. If you are not on our Assisted Service plan and are requesting that our Server Support department do a more thorough investigation of the issue you are having with Squirrel Mail then it would be necessary to utilize our Expert Hands service.
