Having trouble mapping a new domain, with my VD server. Thought I knew how to do this.
Here’s what I did:

1) Simple Control panel: add domain mynewdomain.com

2) Simple Control panel: add zone mynewdomain.com with primary name server ns1.mynewdomain.com

3) Domain menu: Host Summary add ns1.mynewdomain.com with IP 12.34.567.899

4) Domain menu: set name servers to NS1.mynewdomain.COM and NS2.mynewdomain.com …..get error: name server not registered

@pittendrigh

Did you also register NS2.mynewdomain.com? This has to be registered to set it. It may also take a couple of hours to complete setup.

Yes. A year or two ago. I didn’t use the real domain name. I registered it through Godaddy and then set the name servers to a pair of name servers controlled by another developer. He has since gone belly up. So now I want to get this site running on my VD server. The steps I took are outlined above. Something is (obviously) wrong. I’ve done this several times in the past and everything looks right. But it isn’t

Ooops. Register ns2.mydomain.com?

No. I did not do that.
Not sure how I would. Or how to do that.

Yes. You have to register both nameservers. You can use the same IP address to create the second one:
