2 Months, 2 Major Outages – Virtual Server Windows

Is anyone else experiencing frequent outages on GoDaddy virtual servers? Ours has been down for 10 hours as of now. Pretty lame if you ask me.
If anyone is considering hosting with GoDaddy, I wouldn’t recommend using it for anything critical. VERY UNRELIABLE!

Hey there,
@dano75, I was a developer for the Dedicated/Virtual Dedicated products. I hope I can provide some insight for you and other customers
Virtual Dedicated accounts share the same physical hardware with other customers. There two reasons for downtime that I have seen:
1) Bad neighbor – someone attempts to exploit the box, requiring our hosting admins to take action
2) Technology – our Windows virtual dedicated product is a newer technology. There are still bugs with the product we are using and we’re working with the vendor to close these
You can avoid both of those issues by going with a Dedicated server. The technology issue gets exponentially better everyday.
I promise everyone here is doing their best. We love working here and the customer experience is the most important thing to all of us in hosting.
The best way to get taken care of would be to open a support ticket. These go directly to support and make it up to us developers. We take these issues seriously, we will fix then as fast as possible

Make that 3 times in 2 months. Apparently BOTH VPS and dedicated servers are down now because there is a network outage in the GoDaddy datacenter.

I did put in a ticket on the 10th. Nobody addressed it for 2 days. When they did, they did some troubleshooting (even though GoDaddy’s infrastructure problem was already fixed). In their infinite wisdom, the support team decided that the “problem” was that I set up Windows Firewall to block RDP so they removed the firewall rule. Well YES I blocked RDP. I don’t want every hacker in China trying to break into my box. RDP was not blocked from my IP because I have all traffic allowed from my IP. So the “fix” was to remove security on my box even though no fix was necessary. If they would have been a little thoughtful, they would have realized that the trouble was already resolved. Also, if the GoDaddy ticketing system provided a way for the customer to report a resolution, I could have saved the support team from wasting their time. Really, GD should have updated all of the tickets that were related to the VPS outage.

We’re aware that some customers are experiencing connectivity issues with their Dedicated and Virtual Dedicated hosting environments. Some servers might be slow, customers may not have access to FTP and their control panel, and their websites may be down. We know this is important to you. This is a high priority issue we are actively working to resolve.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

I have had the same problem that my servers have gone down at the same time and support normally tells me it might be my server. It’s pretty scary but if it happens again I will have to look at other providers I know I am not alone

The inability, particularly during the heart of the business day, to make contact with the Go Daddy sBrver continues. Tough to operate a business when I can’t access my emails. being forced to explore alternatives.

@jsanford
We would love to look into this for you, but you’ll have to provide us some additional information. Is there a specific domain/hosting you are having issues with, or is it your email accounts? If it is your site, please provide the domain name so we can take a look.
