Minecraft server DNS

I have a minecraft server running an an IP, and I’d like to setup a DNS to point my godaddy domain to my minecraft server, allowing players to enter in the domain in the minecraft client to log into the minecraft game.
Do I have to specify the port for a DNS?
My minecraft server runs on 2xx.xx.xxx.xx:25565
Do I need to put that port into my DNS, or will pointing my DNS to 2xx.xx.xxx.xx work?

@retricide I’m not too familiar with Minecraft server requirements, but the IP address alone set as the A Record should work without issue:

Ok thanks.
So, would it be possible to setup a DNS or something to point a subdomain to a website, and the domain (or another subdomain) to an IP to access the game?

I’ve setup nameservers so I could park my domain at a website, but I want to setup the Domain with DNS to point to another IP. It says the DNS is not hosted with godaddy.
What exactly does parking do?
Should I just point the domain to the website and IP address separately using DNS?
Thanks

@retricide If you’re pointing your domain to another provider’s nameservers, then any DNS changes that you’d need to make would need to be done through them. Parking your domain with us means that you’re not pointing the domain anywhere within our system, but that you’ve like to manage your DNS settings with us. If you’d like to keep the third party nameservers and need to point the domain’s IP address, you’ll need to contact the company that you pointed your domain to for further assistance.

@retricide — How did you get it to work? I need helping setting up the same thing.

The way I do it for my server is like this:
Add a subdomain – like play.sitename.com
Under DNS manager, point “play” to “your ip”
I run several servers and I can’t point it with ports, still trying to figure that one out.

@atvrider647
Our DNS Manager will not allow you to specify ports. You should be able to use the IP address and port as a URL within subdomain forwarding:
