Here is my problem. I am looking to buy a domain. Seems simply but not really. Another company I was working with was buying some new domains for some projects we are working on…(which they are based out of the US and I am in Canada). Before I could mention to them not to try to buy a Dot CA domain they were already in the process since we were setting up several domains at once. So they canceled the process because them not being in Canada not being able to register the domain. But even thou they stopped the process the domain is now taken by GoDaddy. I would like to know how I can get the domain that GoDaddy is just sitting on now…without having to go through $100′s to get a mistake on someone else’s part.

Anyone from GoDaddy that can comment on this?

If the domains were registered and then canceled they will be in a hold status for typically 5 days and then they should be released for general registration again. At that point you will be able to register the domains publicly.

Ya I don’t think so…this was done in December and GoDaddy is still holding them..

If that’s the case we would need more information. Please reply back with the domains in question. Do you know if the domains themselves were canceled, and if so, when? We can try to assist by using public tools such as the whois database which you can also research at who.godaddy.com.

The Domain is http://www.tieronetactical.ca and here is the whois info on it..

Domain name: tieronetactical.ca
Domain status: registered
Creation date: 2010/12/18
Expiry date: 2011/12/18
Updated date: 2011/02/19

Registrar:
Name: Go Daddy Domains Canada, Inc
Number: 2316042

Name servers:
ns01.domaincontrol.com
ns02.domaincontrol.com

The domain wasn’t cancelled the process was never finished because it was a US company trying to register a CA domain so they stopped the process. But it would have been done back in December 18 or 19 of 2010

According to the whois database this domain is in a registered status which means it is active. It would appear that this domain was not canceled properly. The whois lists us as the registrar, however we are not the owner or registrant of this domain. If you feel you are the owner of this domain you can retrieve the account credentials associated with this domain using our account retrieval system.

If you are able to access the account, but want to move the domain to another Go Daddy account you can do so by completing an account change.

You are missing the point here…

The domain isn’t in any of the accounts. So it is impossible to move it from one account to another. There is nothing to retrieve. I have been saying the domain wasn’t canceled right..and it ended up under GoDaddy instead of anyone else…so its impossible for either account to do anything with it.. Thats why I wanted GoDaddy to release the domain it is holding and put it back into public availability.

Hi, I was looking over this issue and hope I can clarify. Go Daddy does not own this domain name. Based on the Whois we are listed as the Registrar for the domain name as we are for all domain names registered through us.

Domain names registered with CIRA are listed as private so we cannot determine who the actual legal registrant is via this public forum. We can confirm it is still registered in an account.

This is confirmed by going to our Account Retrieval System and entering the domain name. The domain name is showing as registered and prompts to send the customer number to the email address registered with the account. You can verify this by following the instructions previously provided.

If the email address is not yours you can attempt to change the email address using the instructions in the account retrieval system. This will only work if you are listed as Registrant. You may want to contact the individuals who originally registered the domain name and see if they still have it in their account.

We definitely understand what you are stating. However, all the public information we have indicates this domain name is active in someone’s account. If it was properly canceled or deleted it would not be active and would have been released for general sale. If it failed registration with CIRA because of residency requirements it would also not show as active and there would be no way to use the account retrieval system.

Well they had no problem registering http://www.fullclipcanada.com and have that one in the account. What I am saying is they don’t have http://www.tieronetactical.ca in their account. This is the point I am trying to make

Registrant:
Domains by Proxy, Inc.

DomainsByProxy.com
15111 N. Hayden Rd., Ste 160, PMB 353
Scottsdale, Arizona 85260
United States

Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)
Domain Name: FULLCLIPCANADA.COM
Created on: 05-Nov-10
Expires on: 05-Nov-12
Last Updated on: 05-Nov-10

Now DomainsByProxy is used to protect the whois detailed info. So you won’t be able to see publicly the info..but you should have access internally to see the account info.

So we both don’t understand where the domain is being held or who has it. If you are the Registrant then you should know who or where it is.

Looking at our account retrieval system it would appear you are correct in that the .ca is not in the same account as the .com. So either the .ca was never deleted from the original account or someone else registered it.

For .com domains the privacy service is supplied from Domains By Proxy and all the information is listed with their information.

For .ca domains Cira automatically hides the registrant information and will only display the registrar. You can verify this by going to cira.ca and doing a whois search. If you type in a random domain name that is registered you will see the Registrar it is registered through. If it is a business domain name it will provide the registrant details for the business. If it’s a private domain name no registrant information will be listed at all.

We are the registrar of the .ca domain name. However, we are not the legal registrant. There is no public information I can provide as to whom the legal owner is. You can use the suggestions provided previously to attempt to resolve this.

I can confirm that Go Daddy is not preventing this domain name from being released. It is active in an account and we cannot provide any more details in regards to this account or the legal owner.

Wow you guys just repeat the same thing I am saying but not really answering my questions. I know Domains By Proxy is a privacy service thats what I said.

I have done other searches for .ca domains and they come up with some info at least about the domains. Whether it be protected or not at least there is something there…which tieronetactical.ca comes up with nothing buy GoDaddy’s name not to mention GoDaddy’s nameserver

So that only leads me to believe its still in your system under your control. The original group that started the process does not have it in their GoDaddy account anywhere.

So where did it go?…Even if they didn’t delete it properly it would be listed in their account or it would have been released back into the public again.. If some how at the same time and day that this group was doing this that someone else registered the domain it would have some listing for the ability to have contact info, even if it was under a security protection similar too Domains By Proxy.

So I would like to know how to contact the owner of this domain then. http://www.tieronetactical.ca OR have GoDaddy release the domain to the public.

Oh and don’t even bother to suggest using your program Domain Buy Service that is just a big scam if you read into it. I have to pay no matter what the result of the buying process is..

You cannot contact the current owner of the domain as you will not have the Whois information publicly available to you. However, the domain is currently registered in a Go Daddy account. You can only attempt to use the account retrieval system to gain access to the account or fill out a Change Form through the following URL if you do not have access to the email on file for the account where the domain is registered. As Nichole stated, you will only be able to gain access to the domain if you are the registrant:

It seems that they say upfront that you only pay if the sale goes through. But that is not what happened to me. I paid $70 for a domain name, only to get an email implying that they would contact me with a higher price. In my account is a message that I have no domains. So they charge you for nothing.

The fee is for a service that we provide. If any of the infomration is mis-leading, we will be more than happy to address the site, however I am not sure of the area of the site that you are referring to.

Thanks for any clarifications,

I’m not pretty sure if this can help you but check out domainka dot com, they are negotiating with GoDaddy and I’ve seen different TLDs there so I guess dot CA as well as your domain is there.
