I just received a canned response from Godaddy regarding the domain forwarding error 101 issue.
We have seen the error behind different ISPs here in San Diego and Palm Springs so I don’t believe that the ISP is the cause. What ISPs are you guys using?
Read godaddy response below:

“Thank you for contacting Online Support.

We have noticed this happening for a few of our customers and have concluded each time that it is a local issue. Please contact your ISP to resolve this.

Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.”

I’ve asked some friends to test it and they all have different ISPs (in Europe). Always the same result, fails on first click.

I am having the same problem. I am a new business and my clients can’t get to my website. How professional!!!
I am using IE 8 and it has nothing to do with my ISP! My clients from all over the country are experiencing the issue. (I am using Windstream if it matters)
Thanks

I will continue to call every time this happens, ~45 mins. I am seeing this from Verizon circuits and Time Warner cable in Los Angeles and Cable Vision in NY. It isn’t related to ISP. Please keep calling Godaddy until this is resolved.

I am having the same issue…for the past couple of days. I called this morning and I got the same song and dance…its the ISP. I asked the the tech if he thought it was weird that so many people have been having the same issue from different service providers suddenly. He said no…they have 56 million users so it isn’t uncommen for people to have the same problem. Yeah, right!!! If anyone finds a solution as to how to fix this quickly I would really appreciate it. I am losing money with every click that doesn’t go to my companys website!
Thanks!!!

Cullen,

This is hardly a local issue. I have people accessing my site from all over the world and everyone has the problem. This is ridiculous!

It is definitely not a local ISP issue. I’ve tried mine from 2 ISPs and the timeout happens from both of them. In one case it’s CenturyLink DSL, and in the other it’s a corporate connection in a different state (not sure how they connect) but as an IT professional, I would say that it’s definitely related to domain forwarding by Godaddy.

This is the response I received fom GoDaddy:

********************

Thank you for contacting Online Support.

Unfortunately we are unable to duplicate the issue as the domain names appears to be setup properly to be forwarded to the URL in question. Please note that forwarding does not use Meta Tags for domain names. To be able to use Meta Tags for your domain names, you would need to use Masking as well.To forward or mask your domain name, you must use our nameservers. For more information, see Setting Nameservers for Your Domain Names.

********************

So basically, our problem is still not solved and GoDaddy thinks its not a problem.
