Domain Forwarding In Turkey
levent said 2 years, 3 months ago:
Domain forwarding is currently not working in Turkey because the godaddy IP used for that (64.202.189.170) is blocked after a court decision in Turkey (from what I read on online boards, my ISP is yet to respond to me about it).
I’ve contacted godaddy support and they informed me they can’t do anything about it.
So my question is, would godaddy consider resolving this issue in a timely manner or should I just transfer my domains to elsewhere, which is something I really don’t want to do because I had no problems till now with godaddy, but under these circumstances I have no other choice. If my domains are not redirecting, why am I paying for them?
And lastly I’d like to ask if anyone knows any workaround for this problem.

@levent,
Unfortunately, Go Daddy, an American based company, cannot tell the government of another country what they can and cannot allow their citizens to view through their local Internet Service Providers. There are several countries that filter content on the internet for their own reasons. If you personally are affected by such a filter, you can try using a web proxy server to view internet content through. If you have an audience in the affected country and they cannot see your site, you can consider an alternate method of hosting/pointing your domain to the another hosted URL.
You mention the specific problem in your situation appears to be the IP Address for the Domain Forwarding service that Go Daddy uses. If that is the case, you can work around this by creating your own forwarding redirect through a shared hosting account. This way your domain(s) point to the IP Address of your hosting server and you can script a simple redirect on the index page for your hosted site that sends traffic to the desired URL. If you have many domains that normally would use Domain Forwarding, use a Deluxe hosting account, so you can setup all of your domains in the account and only have one monthly fee.
I hope this helps!

Hi Roni,
Thanks a lot. I found out that I have domain parking and addon domain privileges and now using them to redirect my domains. Thanks.

hello, I’m in Turkey, having same problem, my friends in abroad say that they can display my page, where I cannot, probably the same reason that levent had.
I want to ask levent how he worked it out?
levent, if you send me an e-mail regarding how you managed it, like a short step-by-step explanation, I’ll be forever in ur debt..

Hello what is the solution ![]()
levent said 2 years, 2 months ago:
Solution is to use addon domain and/or parked domain features on your hosting plan. Ask your hosting provider if you have them on your hosting plan and if they can setup them for you. If you add your domain as an addon domain, you have to make a redirecting index page for that domain. There is a javascript for that, search google and you’ll find it. For parked domains you don’t need that. Park your domain and it will redirect, so use domain parking if available.
Another, more direct approach is to transfer your domains to elsewhere. I’ll be thinking about that when my renewals are due.
My ISP (TTNet) has answered me about the situation. I asked them I can’t ping 64.202.189.170, why is that and they replied me something about spam mails and blacklisting of servers etc., obviously they didn’t even bother to check the ip I gave them and see what it is for. I read on some forums that a site named freesoccer coused the ban. I guess it was probably using forwarding and our geniuses blocked the whole godaddy forwarding while trying to ban that single site. And since godaddy, an American based company, don’t want to deal with that (and I can’t blame them, I know I wouldn’t want to deal with it either
, or offer solutions, I don’t see this problem going away.

Thanks for posting your resolution @levent .
@levent,
@Roniy’s post outlines a viable solution, which is hosting the domain on a server, then creating redirects to the desired URL.

@uraz – For that you do not need to use forwarding. You can properly associate the domain with your blog. The following article walks you through the steps:
