Hi, I got a domain name set to expire on the 15th of April. I started the transfer of the domain to another registrar on the 12th of April. I was told it would take 3 to 7 business days to complete the transfer. Would I lose the domain during this transfer?

We do not require you to wait for the transfer complete. You have the ability to manually accept the domain transfer from within your account. This article will show you how:

Ya, but that area is saying no transfers pending. So, I am confused as to what I need to do. The other registrar said it would take them 3 to 7 business days to complete the transfer. Then on this end. I read that I just need to give them the authorization number and unlock my domain. I did that. On their end it shows a transfer is pending but on godaddy’s end where you suggested me to look it says no transfers pending. I just checked to see on the other registrar if they finally transferred the domain name. I see the same thing over on their end saying transfer pending.

You will need to unlock the domain and provide the new registrar with the domain’s authorization code so they can accept the domain transfer. When the new registrar accepts the domain transfer, the domain will show in the pending transfers section of the Domain Manager. It sounds like the time frame they provided you may be the amount of time they need to accept the domain transfer on their end. If you’re still having trouble getting the domain transferred, feel free to get in touch with our 24 hour support team so our tech guys can check out the status of the domain.

ok, I just talked with the new registar. Their rep told me this:
“Hello,
If you have freshly renewed the domain with the other company the transfer will not renew the domain as well. In fact the period is 60 days, not 45. That is why, i9f you wish, we can cancel the transfer and initiate it once the domain is 60 days only. Meanwhile you can point the domain to your account with us and upload the content on our server.
Best Regards,
Teo Turner “
My domain name expired on April 15th 2012. I just renewed the domain name on April 15th 2012 which was this past sunday. I renewed it to prevent losing the domain name.
I was told by them that I would have to wait 45 days before I can transfer the domain name in order to have 2 years on it.
I already paid them for the transfer but so far my domain name isn’t transfered. I paid you guys for one year and paid them for another year. So I assume I should have 2 years worth for having the domain name.
I was told by them that I would have to wait to transfer the domain name after 45 days in order to keep a total of 2 years. If I transfer it before then I lose one year. So the payment I paid with you guys It would be for nothing that one year would be lost.
Now the latest rep from their company tells me it’s 60 days.
Here is what is happening. I am trying to transfer the domain name from godaddy to another registar.
I gave them the authorization code and I have my domain name unlocked.
I paid them for the transfer already. I paid them on the 12th of April 2012 but the domain name expires on April 15th of 2012.
so when April 15th came buy. I decided to pay godaddy for one years worth for the domain name. So I renewed the domain name.
They canceled the transfer. Then was going to try again. I asked if I would get a total of 2 years with the domain since I paid godaddy a years worth for the domain name and paid them for the transfer which is good for another year.
They replied that I need to wait 45 days after the renewal date which is April 15th 2012 So that means I have to transfer the domain name on the 30th of May.
now today I asked them again but this time it’s a different person that is a rep from the same company. The guy told me that it’s actually 60 days.
I actually don’t know if what they are talking about is true.
I followed directions from godaddy where I had to just send them the authorization code and unlock my domain name.
I paid them and nothing is happening.
I would like to know if I paid you and them for 1 year each would that mean I get 2 years worth? currently the domain now expires on April 15th 2013.
I want to transfer the domain name to the new registrar.
I just would like to know if I will lose a years worth of payment because I transferred the domain name?

When you renewed the domain through us, the registration was extended for an additional year. You will need review the transfer details with the new registrar for information regarding an additional year being added on after the transfer is complete. If you are unable to get the additional year added on for another 60 days, you are welcome to point the domain to your new hosting provider until you can transfer the domain.
