Why is there a $7.99 fee to transfer each domain from another company to Go Daddy? this seems expensive. I have just paid the other company $12 each to register my domain names for another year. do other companies charge this much?

@linda_jen,

The $7.99 fee is a standard fee we charge towards transfers from another registrar to our services. Keep in mind other registrars offer similar transfer services for a fee as well.

One of the key things about a domain transfer is this includes your current registration time with the current registrar being moved over to our services. Once a transfer is successfully completed, we will add an additional year to that current registration time.

I cannot personally comment on the rates other registrars charge from registration renewals or transfers. But perhaps other members with experience with experiences with other registrars would be willing to share some feedback in this regard.

@linda_jen – Yes, just think of it as your paying to add another year and it’s like the transfer is free.

@shellyklein – No, you would not need to transfer your domain registration to use a site builder or hosting. There are a few ways to point the domain, for example you could set the nameservers and manage the DNS here:

@shellyklein,

I see @Nate D already has you directed to one of our articles to point your domain to hosting. Were you able to get your domain setup to work with a site builder?
