Hi, I have tried talking with your tech support team about renewing a domain which is titled as PENDING EXPIRATION on the domain management tool in my account. They just keep replying with rubbish generic responses which do not apply. Please could you tell me how to renew this domain name – I am unable to do this using the domain management tool as all the options are unavailable – I assume because the domain is set to this PENDING EXPIRATION status.

@dubbs

Please note that with .IT domains, your renewal date depends on whether you auto-renew or manually renew the domain name. We attempt auto-renewal on the first day of the month prior to the domain name’s expiration date. If the renewal attempt fails, we re-attempt renewal on the 10th of the month and again on the 20th of the month.

For example, if your .IT domain name expires on February 10 and your domain name does not renew automatically, you can renew it manually by January 20. For automatic renewals, we attempt to renew the domain name on January 1, January 10, and January 20.

If we cannot auto-renew the domain name and you do not manually renew it by the 20th of the month prior to the expiration date, you can attempt to recover it, and there might be a fee to do so:

Based on the status you are seeing, your domain may be entering this expired status where you will need to use the link above. I am unable to determine the exact status of your domain through this forum and for best results I would advise you to contact our Billing department at 480-505-8855 or billing@godaddy.com.

Thanks Tim B – I am attempting to renew it manually but the godaddy domain management tool will not allow me to do this – tech support just respond with generic emails which are no help!

I cant recover it as when I follow that process it says there are no domains to recover. Plus it has not actually yet expired! it expires on the 19th Feb – it’s the 14th now – so I should be able to renew it manually but the Domain Management tools do not allow me to! Infuriating! I will email billing@godaddy.com now as you suggest

@dubbs

You would have needed to renewed your domain manually by January 20th if your expiration date is February 19th. I’m not sure if you are able to still renew your domain or if you will need to wait for the domain to transition into the Expired Domain section within your account, but our Billing team can. Best of luck with this.

@Tim B – thanks for your response – you certainly are much faster than the tech support team and seem to know a lot more too!

Why would I not be able to manually renew it _whenever_ i wanted to up until the domain expiry date? That seems very odd practice to me – never known anyone operate like that before??? Why do godaddy.com do this?

You mention a fee to recover the expired domain – what is this, how much and why will I end up being charged because godaddy.com wont allow me to renew my own domain name when i want??? Its madness!

You’re welcome, I’m here to help! I have had our Billing team reply to your email with information you will need to get your domain renewed. Please reply as quickly as possible as the domain status can change. Hope this helps.

@ Tim B – got the email thanks // is it not possible for godaddy.com to just enable the domain name to be renewed by me in the Domain Management tool rather than by me sending all the details on email?

Thanks for posting. As this issue now pertains to specific account information, you will need to follow the instructions provided directly to you to recover the domain.

Thank you,

@dremzy

More than likely the domain can be renewed from the Recover Expired Domains area of your Domain Manager. Check out this article:
