Parked Domain
joemd said 1 year, 9 months ago:
Hello,
I recently tried to access my domain (http://www.joemd.net) and received the message “This domain is parked.” Thus, the URL no longer re-direct to my blog, http://www.joemd.blogspot.com/. I’m wondering why this has happened and how I can fix it.
Thanks in advance.

@joemd
The message you are seeing is not one that is related to our services. At the moment joemd.net is directed to nameservers provided by DnsPackage.com. It seems that the services which were in use with them may be in an inactive status. You’ll want to check with them to see why this is.

Ok, I think I see what’s happened. When I transfered my domain from my old host to here I forgot to get DNS with GoDaddy. So, the DNS at the previous host expired. If I get DNS with you guys I’ll be able to re-direct my domain address to my blog, yes?

Ok, I re-entered my redirect settings but I’m still getting the Parked Domain message. I looked at DnsPackage.com and got nowhere there. I’m really stuck here. I’ve sent a request ticket to my old host.

Ok. I see that the domain is now using our nameservers and is being forwarded, but you are right that the park page is still coming up. In this case, it seems that this is something which is being caused by Blogspot. If I run a header check I receive the following:
HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently
Location: http://www.joemd.blogspot.com/
So from this we can at lease verify that the forwarding is taking effect. I would recommend that you check your Blogspot account to see if you can find what is causing this.

Thanks Dave.
I had a look through the Blogger setting but all I could find that might be affecting this is the “Publish to Custom Domain” option. I looked at the setup information, which can be seen at http://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/static.py?page=ts.cs&ts=1233381, but I could not find in My Account where to change the CNAME and A-records settings. Where abouts can I find these?

@joemd
Hmmm, it is possible that would correct the issue. You can use the directions in this article to help you update the DNS information for the domain:

I found the page you linked to about a few hours ago and changed the information (although I did not use @ symbols) and the problem remains. Any further suggestions?
This is becoming quite frustrating….

I’m still not getting anywhere with this. I’ve e-mailed a help request to the provider I had the domain with before transferring to GoDaddy so hopefully I’ll hear something from them. I’ve also posted a help request with Blogger.

Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

This is getting weirder. Now, I no longer get the Parked Domain message but get this;
“404. That’s an error.
The requested URL / was not found on this server. That’s all we know.”
Also, according to my old host, my “DNS hosting package has expired,” which is what I thought. However, as the domain is now with GoDaddy and they offer free DNS I don’t see why I still can’t get the JoeMD.net URL to re-direct to my blog.
Can someone PLEASE take a look at this?

have you rechecked? JoeMD.net is pointing to your blog, sometimes it takes time for ISPs or even your browser to refresh…
joemd said 1 year, 9 months ago:
Howcome whenever I to change the Host name the A-level/
A (Host) it changes back to a @ symbol when the page refreshes?
ryantamoria said 1 year, 9 months ago:
did you set your domain to “forwarding”? the “@” symbol represents your domain name… ex. when you place “www” with value “@” you’re telling it to go to our naked domain(domain name without “www”)…
joemd said 1 year, 9 months ago:
Just checked and my browser can’t find the site. I get the message “Oops! Google Chrome could not find http://www.joemd.net” And yes, the domain is set to forwarding. I double checked the forwarding settings and re-saved it. Hopefully it’ll work.
Sorry, I’m still not understand the @ thing. So In my DNS Manager I should have A (Host) as “@joemd.net” rather than just “@”?

Now I’m getting the “404. That’s an error.
The requested URL / was not found on this server. That’s all we know.” message again.
