I would like to use Windows live admin center to manage my emails, but fot this, I have to prove that the domain belongs to me by configuring an MX record. What I did, however, the system does not recognize that the domain belongs to me, their tech support told me that there must be a configuration error in configuration of TXT or CNAMES … They told me to contact the support of my registrar .. Can you look at what it does not work?

Here is the configs they told me to put :
•DNS record type: MX
•Host: mtech-electronic.com
•MX server: b68270da5c060342ba3e877fd6ddc5.pamx1.hotmail.com
•TTL: 3600 or 1 hour
•Priority: 10 (or High priority)
Thank you in advance

@mtech,

I am not sure I follow the error they believe to be occurring. When reviewing the public MX records of mtech-electronic.com, I am able to verify the existence of an MX record that directs to the following:

Priority 10 Points to: b68270da5c060342ba3e877fd6ddc5.pamx1.hotmail.com

Was there suppose to be a CNAME or TXT record included with the domain? If so, I believe you’ve only provided the MX settings they wanted you to use to prove ownership. I can’t confirm CNAME or TXT settings if I do not know what records they were wanting to find mtech-electronic.com resolving to.

Perhaps you could clarify the specific errors they are seeing? With that, we may be able to further advise what is missing.

@chrisg
I believe them either do not know where the error originated. In fact, it usually only necessary to add the MX records and everything should be automatical.

I have two other domains and that works at the first try. However, regarding the mtech-electronic.com domain, this domain has already has been hosted on another namesserver. I wanted to come back to godaddy recently, so I used the option “park my domain”. Is there something else to do? (to return to the original config, as if it were a new domain). (Because in my config screen, this domain does not appear like the other one, It does not have the website tonight option and has the the Free email addresses option). Is that this option may enter in conflict with their system?

For now, I try to erase all config on the DNS manager and use the reset default option, so I hope that will help me. I also try a new MX record gave by microsoft.

I will wait a few days to see if it works, but I’m not sure it will change anything.

@mtech,

Were you able to verify your ownership of the domain with Mircosoft? I see that there is now a second record reported when testing the MX settings of your domain:

Priority 100 Points to: 1ae5cbddd3854f9e2a06af4875c2cf.msv1.invalid

As for the default records you were wanting to direct the domain to, setting to park servers should default to our parked domain DNS settings. If you had existing hosting services that are still setup towards mtech-electronic.com, then you would need to direct your domain to our Hosting Nameservers. This should automatically locate the required DNS settings needed for your hosting account.

Having the exact same issue with searssequim.com
I have added the MX settings for Windows Live Admin Center and cannot ‘prove ownership’ with them.

I used EasyWhoIs to verify that the records were present. Experiencing the exact same issue with Windows Live Admin (Microsoft), attempted to instead have Google Apps (GMail) host my eMail, only to have problems verifying there also. Unlike Microsoft, Google allows you to view their return-query results. There were multiple TXT records however it kept citing only one of them; ironically one of the Microsoft entries.

GoDaddy developed a tool that automatically verified with Google…
https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/google/gmail_login.asp?se=%2B
…and email hosting started working immediately.

Can GoDaddy support PLEASE quickly develop a similar tool for WLA (Microsoft) ?

Post a link. Thanks.

@ypt,

I will pass the request up to our developers for a similar tool to be made available for updating domains Zone Records to Windows Live Admin Center.
