Hello everyone,

I have a domain expiring within several days. This domain is registered with some other registrar and I need to transfer it to Godaddy.
I. e. the domain expires on Friday, today is Tuesday, the domain transfer will be initiated either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Should I renew the domain first with the current registrar and then initiate the domain transfer? Or can I transfer it safely without renewing?

Thanks.

@vadym_s

After you authorize the domain transfer, it can take 5-7 days for the domain to be moved from your current registrar. ICANN regulations prohibit transferring domain names registered or previously transferred in the last 60 days. You may want to contact your current registrar to confirm how they handle domain transfers to see if renewing your domain would prevent or limit you from transferring away.

To transfer your domain to us, you can use the following help article for an overview of the process:

I would not pay for it at the current hosting company, because Go Daddy will charge you another fee when you transfer it.

We do charge a transfer fee, however it includes a free 1 year extension on your registration date.
