I purchased the deluxe hosting plan wherein I can upload several websites under one account. I’ve currently got one of the 3 domains I own uploaded and live (lorireedart.com) and now I need to learn how to upload my site (robreedsculpture.com) . I suppose I at least need the log-on information. Any additional instruction you think I need will be a help – this is not the strongest part of my game!

@rob_r

You will need to FTP information, which is the same for all the domains you add to the account. Make sure that you add the domain to it, and assign it to its own directory, where you will upload the site to.

Thanks Jason,
I remain a bit confused. My log-on information takes me to http://www.lorireedart.com. There, I’ve created a new directory called http://www.robreedsculpture.com to which I’ve uploaded my site – to no avail. Did I misunderstand something? Go Daddy set up a placeholder page for me at http://www.robreedsculpture.com, and that is still showing.

Jason,

I just came across this information under one of your links: If the domain name you added and hosting are in the same customer account, we automatically update the domain name’s nameservers, so the website starts resolving in 24-48 hours.

So, I guess I’ll try waiting for a while – thanks for your help.

@rob_r – It would not automatically change over your domain name because the domain is already associated with a different hosted product. You would need to remove the domain from the other product, and point the domain to your hosting account:

If by “product” you mean my wife’s website, that would defeat what I am trying to accomplish. I need to have both websites active simultaneously. I have the Deluxe hosting package and that was described as being capable of hosting multiple sites. Also, “point the domain to your hosting account” is another thing that I don’t understand.

If you have a Deluxe plan you can add multiple domains to the account. when you add the domain, it is assigned to a specific directory. This directory will server as the root for the domain, therefore your website will be uploaded to it.

Hope this helps,

Hi Jason,
actually, it doesn’t help. I already know what you told me and I’ve already got my site uploaded but it doesn’t show up. Please re-read my question or forward it to someone that can help me.

Thank You

@rob_r – By “product” I mean InstantPage and Web Hosting… http://www.robreedsculpture.com/ can point to InstantPage or Hosting, not both.

This article will show you how to “point the domain to your hosting account”:

http://support.godaddy.com/help/6598/managing-hosting-after-you-cancel-instantpage

As @JasonP pointed out a Deluxe or higher hosting account can host multiple websites. But in addition to pointing the domain to your hosting account, the domain would also need to be added to the hosting account with the article he referenced.

The main domain is called Primary, this points to the root folder. When adding a domain for a separate website make sure to specify a folder, then just upload that website’s files to that folder.

If you guys are trying to get me to lapse into profanity, I’m not gonna do it. What don’t you understand about, “MY SITE IS ALREADY UPLOADED TO A FOLDER CREATED WITH THE INFORMATION IN “THE ARTICLE HE REFERENCED”.
It is simply not showing up (I uploaded it last week). Can you tell me how to make it visible?????

@rob_r – Don’t get mad at me but this is the 3rd time I am posting the same article. Follow the steps, and then get back to us:

(if you are having troubles with this article post back what they are)

I’m sorry to get testy Jason, but the article is not completely helpful. I can get into the “To Edit the A Record” section, but then get lost. Some of the information is different from what I see in that section and, I’m not even sure I need to or even should be “editing an A record”. As you can see, I’m a rookie at this.
I did manage to get rid of the instapage, but my site is still not available.

@rob_r – Yes, that article is written for the exact situation that you are in. Your domain is not pointing to your hosting account. This is done with an A record-
Host: @ Points to: (the IP address)

@rob_r – Looks like you got this sorted out. Best of luck with the web site!
