Hi,
I ran database.addin.setup.exe and it failed to complete and gives an error message:

An error occurred while installing Falcon Addin Setup cannot continue until all system components have been installed.

I’m running Win XP SP3. Have Excel 2010 installed.

Any suggestions you have are appreciated.
Thanks,
Backeast

@Backeast,

I’m not sure why the add-in would be failing during the install process. You may want to try temporarily disabling your firewall or anti-virus, and make sure you’re not running any other programs at the time you attempt to install.

If that doesn’t help, you may want to take screen shots of the error you’re receiving, and send those and the steps to duplicate to our Support team for review. You can email them at support@godaddy.com. You would also want to include your customer number and 4 digit PIN so that they can review with our Advanced departments.

Thanks.

Hey @Backeast,
We’re trying to look into this for you. I just want to verify that you are using a 32 bit version of Windows XP and Office.

The reason is because we are working on a 64bit version but the currently available download is only for 32 bit Office.

Thanks,
DS

Hey @Backeast,

We also need you to look for some prerequisites, by doing the following:

1. Click on Start
2. Control Panel
3. Add and Remove Programs
4. Look for the following which are required
4.1. .Net Framework 3.5 with SP 1
4.2. Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (x86)

Please let us know if these exist?

If not, here are some links to download Microsoft updates for your system:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=22

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=20479

Thanks,
DS

Hi,
Thanks very much for the speedy replies…I am running SP3, 32 bit Win XP OS. No firewall, anti-virus disabled.

I seem to have earlier versions of the NetFramework and do not have Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office. I will download them as per you links.

I am not running Office, but have installed a new copy of Excel 2010. Do I need to run Office? Can someone please confirm?

Regards,
–Backeast

Great, hopefully once you install those two updates your system will be ready to install the Excel Add-in. Normally these should have installed automatically, but in your case it sounds like it didn’t happen for whatever reason.

As long as you have Excel 2010 you should be fine.

Hi,
Here’s the latest on this issues:

I have installed Netframeworks 3.5 SP1 and MS Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime x86.

Also sitting in the system are: Netframework 2.0 Service 2, and Netframeworks 3.0 Service Pack 2

I ran the Excel Addin install again and got the following error message:

Setup has detected that the file ‘C:DOCUME~1INSPIR~1LOCALS~1TempVSD46.tmpOffice2007PIARedisto2007pia.msi’ has changed since it was initially published.

See the setup log file located at ‘C:DOCUME~1INSPIR~1LOCALS~1TempVSD46.tmpinstall.log’ for more information.

Any suggestions you have are greatly appreciated.

Hi @Backeast,

Can you try downloading and installing the following:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?DisplayLang=en&id=18346

And then if you’re still having issues, can you post the information contained in the log file as you did before. That was helpful.

Thanks again,

DS

Hi DS,
That did the trick! I downloaded & installed the file at the link and was then able to run and install the Excel plug-in. I am so relieved. Thank you very much for your most excellent tech support on this issue. Great work.
Regards,
–Backeast

PS – Started to work with ED already. Seems pretty slick. :-)
