When a user send email from a yahoo account to our domain, gets this message “Message expired for domain swiremex.com. Remote host said: 452 Too many recipients received this hour [RCPT_TO]“

Do you have any idea on what could be happening?

@azteca2137,

The error you are receiving was intermittent, please let us know if you face that message on future emails. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thanks for your patience,

Jason

@JasonP,

I’ve had a user with an Yahoo email adress report the same problem. She received a “Failure Notice” on Sun, January 16, 2011 5:31:04 PM and on Sat, January 22, 2011 3:44:29 PM Is there anything I can do to to prevent this from happening again?

@JasonP

We are having the same problem as Azteca and Nique. When yahoo users send emails to any of our email accounts at our domain they receive the following message:

“Message expired for domain landmarkmgmt.com. Remote host said: 452 Too many recipients received this hour [RCPT_TO]”

@Nique and @Landmark Mgmt,

In an effort to control unsolicited, and otherwise unwanted email, we do restrict the number of emails accepted from specific email servers. Typically, this measure affects very few customers.

If you continue to experience this error, please do not hesitate to contact out team to review it.

Thank you,

Jason

A client of ours accepts applications for employees on their GoDaddy website and is complaining that their emails are being restricted. A friend with an SBCGlobal email account sent them a message and it got returned to her with the same message as the posters above. Is there anything that can be done to a particular GoDaddy email account to not restrict any emails at all? I have turned off their spam filter, as it was marking the applications as spam and she was afraid they weren’t getting all of them.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

@JasonP,

We are still having the same problem, only now if the email is send to a specific user get the bounce message, when the same message is sent to other users, it is received without problems.

Any idea?

@ShortWizard and @azteca2137,

Would you mind posting the content of the bounce back messages. I would need to view the details of each, especially when we are discussing different providers and certain email addresses affected.

Thanks for your patience,

Jason

We are experiencing a 24 hour delay in receiving sent email from users within our own domain. Godaddy is only used as our incoming email. SBC is our outgoing mail server. Any help at fixing this? It’s been worse the past week than normal.

@azteca2137,

Thanks for posting that. I would like to take this one step further and have you submit a support ticket and include the full header and message of the bounce back. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Just found this forum and we are experiencing the same problem with emails sent from a yahoo account to a domain forwarding account:
Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.
<treasurer@aavirginia.org>:
Message expired for domain aavirginia.org. Remote host said: 452 Too many recipients received this hour

Sometimes this return mail notice takes 2 days to receive. Has this problem been resolved yet? Can I make changes to my email settings, etc?

I would like to strongly advocate that you abandon this practice and find a different way to control spam. I need to be confident that people can reach me via email.

If you won’t abandon it, would you be willing to allow us to whitelist email addresses to bypass this block?

If not, would you at least change the error message to something that is more understandable to the average user? I’m thinking something along the lines of …

“Your email was not delivered to abc@xyz.com because GoDaddy, the web hosting company serving xyz.com, has chosen to restrict the number of emails accepted from Yahoo email servers. If you wish to communicate with abc@xyz.com, you’ll have to resend this email from a non-Yahoo email account. If you don’t have a non-Yahoo email account, you’ll have to try to reach abc@xyz.com by phone or mail. Please do not contact xyz.com regarding this problem as they are unable to either control or change this policy. Sorry for the inconvenience, and we hope our decision to not let your email through doesn’t impact your decision to do business with xyz.com.”

Thanks for your help!

I had exactly the same problem with an important e-mail from someone using a yahoo account a few days ago. I tried to create a support ticket including the header information, but the form didn’t seem to want to accept the information in the “question” field.

I’d just like to know if there’s something users can do to prevent this from happening in the future. I understand the need for security measures, but this delay cost us a day’s worth of preproduction time!

add me to the list… just got a complaint from family with a link to this thread. The assertion was that Bellsouth (ne AT&T), their ISP, uses Yahoo for email and it will not longer go through.

I’d say you have an issue to solve — please let us know who to complain to so it gets solved.
