I’ve followed the above instructions to connect my GoDaddy email with Apple’s Mail. I’m running OSX Lion 10.7.3 and regardless of what port I use, it says it can’t contact pop.secureserver.com using that port. What’s wrong?

This is the message that I get in apple mail:

“Verify that you have addressed this message correctly. Check your SMTP server settings in Mail preferences and verify any advanced settings with your system administrator.

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.”

I’m curious about this too.

You may want to double check your email client settings at http://x.co/infocenter to ensure you are using the correct incoming server. If you are also unable to receive emails in your Web-Based Email, you may want to check to make sure the domain’s MX records are set properly.

Checking Your MX Record Settings in the Email Control Center

It looks like you are having trouble sending out emails. If this is the case, you’ll want to try an alternate outgoing port number. You can find the available port numbers for your email address at http://x.co/infocenter.

Thanks for your quick reply, Adam. I’ve checked everything, tried all the different ports, and even checked the connection using Telnet with terminal. I’m getting this message when I try and send something:

The sender address [MyEmail@MyDomainName.com] was rejected by the server smtpout.secureserver.net.

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.

Sending from: [Me] <MyEmail@comcast.net>

(I inserted the brackets for privacy and spammers.)
I’m baffled what the problem could be. I hope I get this straightened out. Because of this I can’t reply to customers emails on my iPhone when I’m on the road.
Thanks for your time.

Hmmm… If you’re having trouble sending from multiple email clients, you may want to check to make sure that relays are enabled for your email address:

Managing Your Email Account SMTP Relays

If the relays are already set for the email address, you’ll want to get in touch with our 24 hour support team so our tech guys can review your account specifically. In the meantime, you can access your email through http://mobilemail.godaddy.com on your iPhone.

Don’t know if this is still an active thread, but I’ve had ongoing issues with connecting MacMail to GoDaddy’s outgoing mail servers–and it’s Comcast. Instead of using smtpout, I have to go through Comcast and authenticate with my Comcast username/pw. TRULY a pain. And, I believe, a source of a lot of problems that don’t go away.

I had this same issue in mac mail with smtpout.secureserver.net. What fixed it was requiring my credentials on the outgoing mail
