Email issues 8-13-12
tina_turner said 9 months, 1 week ago:
I cannot receive incoming emails through Outlook at all today. I can send, successfully, however. The error I keep getting is that there is no response from the server and it instructs me to check the SSL and port settings. I have done so and everything is correct. I have a screen shot of the errors in email settings, after attempting to “test account settings” also, if needed. Help!!! Thanks!

I have a similar issue, i opened a new email address earlier today and was confused to find i hadnt recieved any emails in it’s inbox (im just using the webmail at the moment). I decided to test it by sending emails to this address from my gmail – none of them have come though! What can i do? i’ve sent out many emails today listing this particular mail as my contact email and yet i can’t recieve messages though it

NRM,
I feel your pain! My email addresses are not new, though, so I know you’re probably way more frustrated than I am! I also cannot get anything on my phone and my webmail seems to only pull 1 or 2 emails every few hours. It’s crazy! I can’t get responses to the emails I have sent today!
Welcome to my “boat”…..grab an oar and start paddling! ![]()

@nrm,
Keep in mind that as this is a newly created email address it can take a full 24 hours to complete the setup before it can both send and receive messages. If you are still seeing issues sending and receiving messages close to this time frame, I recommend reaching out to our Live Support via phone or email so we can look into the setup status of the address in question.

Ok Chrisg, in that case i’ll just wait it out and see how it’s doing tomorrow. Thanks for your quick response.

@tina_turner,
In regards to the email client and devices that are not able to pull up messages, Have you tried using the non-SSL port settings to verify connection issues. Since you mentioned confirming SSL settings, this means you would need to uncheck SSL and use port 110 for POP3 or 143 for IMAP (if enabled).
If this doesn’t work through your Outlook client, I would suggest running a telnet test to verify connections are being made through these ports:
Using Telnet to Troubleshoot Email Connectivity Problems
As for messages you are seeing received every one to two hours, are you seeing anything in the headers that indicate a delay in delivery? If you are not sure, I would recommend reaching out to our Live Support via email at support@godaddy.com with attached copies of the messages for us to review further.

Chris,
I used the wrong terminology when I referred to SSL settings. I am using the non-SSL port setting (110 for POP3). The settings have remained the same in my outlook for several years and have worked fine. The issues I’m having just started yesterday and is the same this morning.

@tina_turner,
In that case, try enabling the SSL options and using port 995. If the issues connecting are still persisting, I would again urge running the telnet test on both ports to confirm connections are being accepted.

<p>Thanks Chris, for your help. Yesterday and today, I can no longer send mail from the account I’ve been using for the last 6 months. I would receive bounced back emails saying that “553 Sorry, that domain isn’t in my list of allowed rcpthosts” for every single email that I would send. But, I would send from another email account and it would deliver just fine. When I try to test account settings in that email (in outlook 2003), everything passes except sending a test message. It gives me the error “530 Please verify the email address field”. The email address in the email address field is fine. It’s the same as it always has been. I’ve even deleted the account from Outlook and started over, entering it as a new account and it still does not work.

@tina_turner,
Previously I had mentioned trying the SSL incoming port 995 for your receiving email issues. Have you also configured your SMTP relays to use SSL specific port settings, 465 for SSL?
