I registered a domain on Godaddy for a website hosted at Shopify. I’m trying to use Goddady for email. It sends email without a problem but I haven’t been able to send email to that account (I tried sending emails there from a gmail account). This is the error message:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

xxxx@vinadeo.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 #5.1.0 Address rejected xxxx@vinadeo.com (state 17).

I have checked the MX records at Godaddy, which seem to be fine, pointing to godaddy’s email servers. What am I missing?

I just checked my mx records at http://www.mxtoolbox.com/ and they seem to be pointing to godaddy’s email servers

Pref Hostname IP Address TTL
0 smtp.europe.secureserver.net 188.121.52.56 60 min
10 mailstore1.europe.secureserver.net 188.121.52.56 60 min

@jper

If the DNS for the domain was modified with the last 48 hours, it could be that the changes are still propagating. If the address was setup on EU servers, then those are the correct MX records. Please let us know if you continue to have issues.

@jper check out http://www.unlocktheinbox.com/ for mx and dns record lookups (and a lot of other tools too like spam score test, mailtest etc). last time i used the site you recommended i couldnt stand the interface. another benefit is using more than one site you’ll have a high chance of using one that hasnt got cached dns records so theres none of that waiting for ttl to expire. good luck
