Email suddenly not working with Mac Mail
scotty_b said 2 years, 4 months ago:
Everything was fine until this morning, and now it appears that my account is not online. I have tried a few things to bring it back online, but no luck.
Is the actual server experiencing problems?
Thanks

@scotty_b
We aren’t having any problems with our email servers at this time. What exactly is the error message you are seeing? Do you know if the web-based client works? What domain name is associated with the email? If you can reply back with this information, it will be easier for us to verify the cause of the problem.
You can also try contacting our Support team so that they can investigate the status of the account for you. You can reach them through http://support.godaddy.com/support

Hi
The error message I am getting is that ‘the attempt to read data from the server “pop.asia.server.net” failed’.
Domain name is scottburford.net
Thanks

I’m not currently showing any issues with our Asia-based email servers. Are you able to send and receive messages from your Web-Based Email?

Baillee,
I’m having the same trouble on 3 different devices and connections.
1. Home computer (Apple Mail)
2. iPhone using 3mobile network
3. Work Computer (Apple Mail)
Webmail works fine. Gmail’s import works fine. Apple Mail ‘has been’ fine.
I emailed support and all I was sent was the how to setup Mail steps. The account was fine till the 3rd of Jan.
Whats changed on godaddy end?

BTW I have tried setting up a new account on all devices and have reset my password and tried the SSL option and set ports manually with no luck.
Any ideas?

What error message are you receiving, and when do you receive this error message? I’d love to look into this further for you.
- Baillee
bunka said 2 years, 4 months ago:
Hey Baillee,
the error is
‘The server returned the error: The attempt to read data from the server “pop.asia.secureserver.net” failed.
Please let me know if you need anything else ![]()
BTW Ping has similar results at work but Traceroute is worse(?)

@bunka
According to the trace information that you provided, you have a bad connection from your network to our servers. We recommend that you try the connection on different ports, from a different ISP if possible, and also connect to a LAN line if he have not already done so.
Keep us posted on this!

bunka said 2 years, 4 months ago:
@ Baillee
sure I can try different ports. What ports should I try? I have the default setting in Apple Mail set now.
Should I turn off SSL or leave it on? I have turned SSL in my godaddy email settings.
As stated before I have tried to access my email via an app from 3 different ISP connections – exetel(home), 3mobile(iPhone), work. They all gave me the same error.
I have gotten my ISP to ‘rebuild ports’ on my home connection. But this will not effect my iPhone (when not at home) or my work.
BTW thanks for your help, I hope we can get it sorted ![]()
Baillee said 2 years, 4 months ago:
@bunka
You can try outgoing ports 80 or 3535 or 587, without SSL. If you enable the SSL, you will want to use port 465.
Let me know if this helps!

bunka said 2 years, 4 months ago:
@Baillee
on the weekend I tired all the different ports and with SSL on and off.
I have the ports rebuilt on my connection from my ISP and the IP changed.
Still times out.
I had a mate try on his connection (TPG) times out. That is a total of 4 different ISPs I have tried with no luck.
Can my server be changed from the asia one? Can you give me another of your servers to PING?
