Emails to AOL addresses are blocked
coolowl said 1 year, 1 month ago:
I can no longer send an email to anyone with an AOL address. Within a minute of sending the email I receive a message from Mail Delivery System <mailer-daemon@secureserver.net> stating the following:
“This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification. Delivery to the following recipients was aborted after 0 second(s):”
And then it’ll list the person’s email address.
What happened? I used to be able to send mail to AOL addresses. Is there some sort of setting in Go Daddy that needs changing? Has AOL blocked my address for some reason?
I don’t know what to do or where to turn to get this resolved. I hope someone on this forum can help. Thank you in advance.

@coolowl
I have not seen any reports of this issue at this time. Can you please provide a full bounce back error and headers to support@godaddy.com so that we may review the nature of the error in detail?

Thanks. I just forwarded one of the messages to the support@godaddy.com address. I hope someone can figure out how to fix this. The first time I noticed it was Friday 4/13/2012. I sent an email to 40 of my friends. All the messages were delivered except the AOL addresses. They all bounced back. I then tried sending the message to just one AOL address but it still bounced back.
This morning (Saturday 4/14) I tried again to send to just one AOL address but again no luck. Same undeliverable message. I don’t know if GoDaddy is preventing the sending or if AOL is blocking..or if it’s something else. Thanks for any help you can provide. Art

I’ve had the same problem. I sent an email on 4/13 at 7:38am to an AOL address. I got a reply back at 11:32am. When I tried to reply at 12:03pm it was blocked, along with four other AOL addresses. I resent my emails from another domain and asked all of the recipients if they knew anything and was told that “AOL was having some problems with email yesterday and today, hopefully it has been corrected if you want to you send them to my yahoo account”. That message was sent 4/13/12 at 1:30pm. Think it was a Friday the 13th prank?

I have had the identical problem as inqris has above. I first noticed it today (4/14) and the mail delivery status message is identical. Any updates?

All day long I have received emails from GoDaddy support asking me to send them this, and send them that. Every email I get from them asks for a different thing. I’ve forwarded the return email, sent them the full header information, and given them my PIN number for my account. Still, I cannot send email to AOL addresses. I’m sorry to say that my confidence that this is going to get resolved any time soon is close to zero. I hope they prove me wrong.

I am currently having this same problem sending e-mail to AOL for the past 2 days. I receive the e-mails back as described above.
I discovered that other Internet providers have had similar problems in the past. Basically when AOL receives an e-mail it performs a reverse DNS check of the domain name associated with the e-mail address. If the domain name sending the e-mail doesn’t match the domain name associated with the domain name in the e-mail, the e-mail is rejected as AOL believes the e-mail has a forged e-mail address.
It is an attempt to prevent spam. My guess is that GoDaddy recently made some DNS changes that are affecting the delivery of e-mail verification.

@Everyone
Thanks for your posts, this does appear to be something that we are starting to see isolated reports of. To better track the issue and resolve these blocks, we will need you to please provide a bounce back error to our support team for review. As @coolowl mentions, please also include your support PIN for proper processing.

I am also having this issue since 4/13. Sounds like it is a global issue and not just me, thankfully.
The error message I get back is that AOL/Compuserve issued a hard block against email from this service.

Hello:
I have an godaddy email I have been getting reports that when people send me an email to my aol account they get a bounce. See below.
This bounce you see below is where I sent an email from my aol to my self at godaddy email. Then replied back and still got the bounce.
This seems to be happening periodic – not sure why it is happening. now…
HELP
Pj
Bounce notice… – I have removed my email addresses but you get the idea.
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
Delivery to the following recipients was aborted after 1 second(s):
I have submitted the emails to support@godaddy.com for their review. (I am an account exec on the accounts that have godaddy email)

I am having the same “bounce back” problem with AOL email addresses. When can we expect this issue to be resolved???
cdb said 1 year, 1 month ago:
Yes, big big problem on our end. We can’t send proofs or emails to our customers with an aol address.
