Received this message just a while ago after trying to respond to a message from the boss.
What does this mean and how do I fix it?

@ski,

If you are sending out email through a third party email client, keep in mind that email addresses have a a daily relay limit of 250 messages by default. If you have already sent out this many messages for the day, this error message would occur and you would not be able to send out another message through your mail client till the next day. If that is the case, you should still be able to send out email messages through our web mail interface.

my client is also facing this problem regularly. He is not sending more than 20 mails per day. is there any way we can check details of the relay count?

i am using my blackberry to access and reply to my emails. Can this be a reason for more relays being used?

@vivek_kedia,

Relay count can be reviewed from with your Email Control Center interface. Simply select the email address in question and review under the “Advanced” tab where SMTP Relays are enabled.

SMTP relay services are utilized for outgoing messages being sent from third party mail clients. If you are responding to messages from a Blackberry device as well as an email application such as Outlook, relays would be utilized from both locations for that specific email address.

If you have verified that the email address is not sending out more than 250 messages for the day, you might try resetting the SMTP relay service to see if this can correct the error. To reset, simply set the SMTP relay limit to “0″ from the same “Advanced” tab I previously mentioned and click “Ok”. This will disable the relays for the email address. You can then select the address again to go back and set to “250″.

If the error persists after attempting a reset, I recommend reaching out to our Live Support team via phone or email so we can take a closer look into the matter.

Is there a way to increase this ridiculous limit?
(It’s not like people are running businesses using these tools or anything)

@cassio,

You can add additional relays in packages of 50 relays per day to an email address. The details on adding additional SMTP relays can be reviewed through the following article:
