Extreme delays in sending and lock ups while automatically saving drafts
renaissance said 1 year ago:
We are recently (within the last week) experiencing extreme delays in sending and lock ups while automatically saving drafts. We have had the same issue on different Macs and iMacs, running different OS, and on both Safari and Firefox.

@renaissance,
Could you elaborate more on the specific issues you have been encountering with email? How exactly are you coming across the delays when sending messages? Is this a delay in the message being sent and received by the recipient or just a delay in sending out from the web mail interface and indicating a sent status to you?
You mentioned seeing these delays through Safari and Firefox browsers on a Mac OS. Has there been any other browser or operating system exhibiting the same behavior? What specific versions of the two browsers are being used? Have you tried using our Troubleshoot Browser Settings tool to make sure your browser is properly configured to work with our services?

This delay/timeout is also occurring on the PC, not just the MAC. The longer I work on a particular email, the more chance for the “extreme delay”. For example, I forwarded an email and added more text, made an additional attachment. All the time, the original attachment that came with the original email said, “waiting”. I cancelled out and re-forwarded and rewrote the email twice – same thing. Finally, I decided to wait and went off to do another task. After several minutes, it did finish the upload and I was able to send the email. Delays have also been occurring on emails without large attachments. And I can’t just leave it to send itself, because the delay occurs before the spell-check pops up. Hope you can get this resolved soon.

The delay occurs with IE and Chrome, too.

It’s a delay in sending out from the web mail interface and indicating a sent status. The compose window just sits there saying “sending…” or locks up saying “saving draft…”. I usually have to close the window and try again, but other times it has eventually sent. I have quit browsers, tried other browsers, restarted machines, etc. Sometimes this works, others it doesn’t.
We have been using webmail for a couple years now and this just started. I have used Safari 5.1.5 on OS 10.7.3 and Firefox 3.6.28 and Safari 5.0.6 on OS 10.5.8, and each one does the same thing.

@renaissance, @john_h_norton,
Thank you both for bringing this to our attention. I have notified our advanced support and email teams who were able to duplicate similar occurrences of delays. They are further investigating at this time to determine what specifically causes this to occur so the matter can be addressed.
If some additional details of the matter come to my attention, I will be sure to follow up on this thread.

Things were working better, but as of this morning our webmail is useless. It took a very long time to login, then when I hit reply to an email, a blank white box came up and froze.
renaissance said 1 year ago:
Now the reply window is coming up, but is not populated with anything. It is as if I just tried to start a new email.

If I try to send an email through webmail, it errors out.

@renaissance
You may want to try enabling ‘Full-Time SSL Mode’ within your Web-Based Email. This will sometimes clear up issues with blank pages appearing within Web-Based Email.
I cannot read my email messages.
Keep us posted!
