Forward Go Daddy email to gmail

I’d like to forward my webmail to my gmail account. So what you’re saying is that I need to set up a forwarding email account RATHER than a webmail account? Do I need to delete my regular webmail account then?
staceyh said 1 year, 6 months ago:
@lauriel1 Yes, that is correct. You’d need to delete the email address and set it up as a forwarding address instead:

This thread was very useful to me but I didn’t understand Jason response @student about setting up Gmail to send mail from a forwarding on Gmail itself, through that account’s SMTP servers.
What do you mean by:
“use your domain with Gmail services by modifying the MX records.”
?
It seems from Jason’s answer @student that there is still a way of making an email reply written within gmail to be sent as a godaddy forwarding mail (i.e., having xxx@mydomain as sender) through godaddy SMTP server? Is this correct?
…but I don’t understand what needs to be done.
More specifically:
- what do you mean by “use your domain with Gmail services”?
- What needs to be modified in the MX records?
Thanks

@potencial
I was offering an additional option for those who want to associate their domain with Gmail. Essentially, you can configure your Gmail account to use your domain. You would need to set this up on their end, then change your MX records associated with the domain to point to their servers.
To change your MX records:

I was having some trouble setting up a forwarding account and truthfully I’m still not really sure why as it seems very simple, however I found that last link http://x.co/bZL9 to be very helpful and was able to solve the problem through those means instead. I was shocked how user-friendly it is and Google Apps is definitely a viable alternative in my opinion. tyvm Jason

Hi, this thread is pretty helpful yet a few issues still confuse me:
- If I set up a forwarding account from my godaddy domain to my gmail account, will I be able to send an email from gmail using this forwarding mail account name as the sender?
- If this is possible, how can I set up my gmail account on the iphone so that I can send emails from my gmail on my iphone with the sender name showing as my goddadyy domain email?
- What is the max. size of an email that can be forwarded by this forwarding account?
- Can I forward multiple email addresses to gmail and send emails from gmail with either of these email addresses showing as the sender?

@eensari
Here, I hope, are the answers to your questions:
If the account is strictly forwarding, Google would need to allow you to create an alias in order to reply to the address. I am not sure if they allow this.
The size of the email that can be received will be based on the amount of space in your email account. We do not specify a size for the forwarding account.
As for the number of address that you can create, that is only limited by the number of credits in your account.
Most of your answers will depend on the policies of Google.

i have been trying to get the forwarding to work, but i, too, got the
this email is already in use” message. I see there is a CC with this address on the godaddy email acct. but nothing is forwarding or cc’ing to my gmail account and i don’t know what else to do. it’s very frustrating!
JasonP said 1 year, 1 month ago:
@emptyone
You cannot setup a forwarding account for an address that is already setup as an email box. As for testing the CC, make sure that you are sending the test email form the Gmail account that you are CC’ing to. Google will see this as looping and delete the email.

godaddy shows me (Pending Setup: validating MX record ) @ forwarding email. I bought domain name here. How to configure Mx record? pls anyone help me
JasonP said 1 year, 1 month ago:
@child
Usually this error will present itself when the domain is pointing to a third party host or DNS provider. If this is the case, make sure that you update your MX records.
