Anybody else having problems sending email from their iPad? Works great on iPhone, but same setup on iPad lets me receive but not send email.

Are you using the webmail and/or mobilemail client with your iPhone and iPad? Or are you using the built in mail client and connecting to our POP servers?

Are both using the 3G connection offered to the units, wifi to a local network, or both?

I’m using your POP servers. The phone is 3G and wifi, iPad is wifi only.

I cannot send emails from I pad either, only receive. It may have something to do with smtp relay

What are you using for the SMTP server and port configuration? It is possible that your ISP that you are using for the wifi connection is blocking outbound traffic on port 25, which is the default port for SMTP servers.

You can try changing your SMTP server to your ISP’s server, or changing the port configuration to be port 80 or 3535.

Wouldn’t the SMTP relay effect incoming mail on this account?

Thanks for the suggestion Brian and you may be right. Unfortunately I think trying to change port configuration is beyond my knowledge base. I will have to check when I’m in a wifi hotspot to see if I’m able to send then, if I can then it is my ISP and a conflict with the port config. Thanks.

SMTP is for outgoing and POP for incoming. Most ISP’s only block outgoing traffic over the default SMTP port unless it is directed through their servers. Their reasoning for this is to try and help stop spam.

I’m not sure how you would go about changing the port configuration on an iPhone or iPad, as I haven’t looked into that myself yet.

I’ve been thinking about the SMTP thing and it doesn’t make sense…I can send emails from my gmail, yahoo and me.com accounts. It’s just the godaddy account that I have a problem with and they’re all web-based email.

If anybody has anymore ideas let me know. I’ve updated the software on the iPad and still no luck. Thanks

The sever rejected one of the recipient’s addresses. The message has been placed in your Outbox.

Our Community Help Article “Using an iPad with Your Email” provides step by step instructions for the iPad email client and can be located at

http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/6107

If the instructions for the iPad email client do not work for any reason please review your configuration and port settings as follows:

Incoming IMAP without SSL should use port 143
Incoming IMAP with SSL should use port 993
Incoming POP without SSL should use port 110
Incoming POP with SSL should use port 995

Outgoing settings without SSL should use ports 25, 80, 3535
Outgoing settings With SSL should use port 465

Our web based email interface can be accessed at http://email.godaddy.com

It still can not be configured. It’s extremely simple on iPhone, impossible on iPad. Shall I config it as IMAP or POP? (anyway in neither ways it works)

Lucifer, setting up your iPad as POP or IMAP depends on the email plan that you have with us.

Currently, only our Unlimited Email plan supports IMAP. Details for each plan can be found at the link below, this also includes email plans that come with our shared hosting.

http://www.godaddy.com/email/email-hosting.aspx

To see what type of plan you have please follow the steps below:

1) Log in to your Account Manager.
2) In the My Products section on the left hand menu, click Email.
3) In the Email Account list you will be able to see which type of plan that you have and move forward with the proper setup and configuration.

Once you follow the steps above please also be sure to check the port settings as listed in this topic if you encounter any issues after initial setup. You may want to consider starting from scratch and setting the account up as new on your iPad.

As always we do want to see this issue resolved. Our 24/7 Support is happy to help and can be reached at 480-505-8877 or support@godaddy.com

I and other people in our office are unable to get Godaddy email to function properly on our iPads. It downloads and opens the email okay, but we cannot scroll down to read the rest of the incoming message. No such problems from other email servers… just Godaddy.
