You may want to double check your email client settings at http://x.co/infocenter. If you continue to have trouble getting the email address setup, you may want to try turning off WIFI on your mobile phone before attempting to setup the email address.

I was having the same issue and tried turning my WIFI off on my android but it still says, “Setup could not finish. Unable to open connection to server.” Any other suggestions?

Some Android devices will set the username as ‘youremailaddress’ instead of ‘youremailaddress@yourdomain.com’ by default. You may want to check to make sure that you are using the entire email address as the username. If you are receiving this error after entering the outgoing mail settings, you may want to try specifying an alternate outgoing port number.
