I have read a couple of threads on GD forum that had similar issues but none of them had conclusive fixes. The thrust of it was; there were no issues with gmail or other IMAP services, just GoDaddy. This is very pertinent to my situation as well.

I ended up finding a solution that worked for me but am not happy with the compromise.

The suggestion is to turn off email scanners. Although this was referencing McAfee AV, and I use AVG, the fix works very well. I have finally been getting very consistent and fast sync speeds all day. The issue here is that I no longer have use of my email scanner. Does GoDaddy support or any other users experience this problem? Is there a known setting in the advanced settings in AVG? Any insight is appreciated. I have opened a similar thread on the AVG site as well.

Thanks in advance!

@craftedla

I am not personally familiar with AVG, so I would not be able to advise on any specific or advanced settings. You might want to review the settings to see if AVG offers an option to only scan email coming from certain servers, that way you may continue to use it with our other email providers. Our email services include high-end security scanning of emails at the server level, that automatically block emails that contain infected or dangerous attachments. Virus Protection is in place for Web-Based Email, POP, and IMAP accounts so that any email messages containing an infected attachment are blocked. A secondary email scanner is generally redundant with our server based security.
