issues with godady imap and Mac Mail

We have a strange problem with our email accounts when using Mac Mail. The issue is that often but not consistently, the emails do not appear in our inbox. They will appear on our iphones, and on the webmail but not in the mac mail inbox. Not even when one clicks on”Get Mail” do they get downloaded. One has to quit mail and re-start in order for the emails to get downloaded. I have had at least three calls with godaddy representatives. We have tripled checked our settings. This seems to be happening only with the imap accounts, the pop appear to work fine.
One representative said this was a known issue but was not able to give a solution.
We have Mail 3.6. Currently the settings are set to “check new mail every 5 minutes” (used ot be set to 1 minute)
We have ssl NOT selected using port 143, we also have tried checking ssl with port 993.
As I said, all the other settings have been trippled checked, so i don’t think the issue is there.
We need to use imap because some our employees have multiple devices and pop would make things very complicated for us.
Sadly, my boss wants me to switch to another company. I love godaddy, and would be very happy if we could figure out how to solve this so that i don’t have to move to another server.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem? any ideas?
thanks
N

@pmcd,
I’m not aware of any current issues that would cause the problems that you’ve been seeing. However, you did mention that the Mac Mail seems to download the messages after closing and reopening the client, yet still works on the phones. You may want to take your computer into the Apple Store or contact Apple directly, as it sounds like maybe it’s an issue with the Mac Mail client itself.

We have 6 computers experiencing the same problem. Some are laptops, some desktop, and two are on a separate network. We have imap accounts with gmail which work fine and pop accounts with network solutions which also are working perfectly.
This is not a Mac problem.

same problem for me, started a few weeks ago. I have multiple account with Godaddy and only one of them is experiencing this problem. I can occasionally get it to work right if I ‘sync’ that account in Apple Mail, then give it a few minutes then ‘rebuild’ that mail box. The messages will show up for a while but eventually disappear again. Any help from Godaddy on this would be great.

…it’s also strange that new messages show up on my iPhone and iPad without issue. Although I have noticed that if I can get emails on my Mac from the account, and then delete them on the Mac, they’re still showing up on my iPhone and iPad. I have to delete them there seperately.

Thank you for those of you who posted on this thread. At the time of your posts, we were experiencing an issue that was affecting some IMAP users, however it has be resolved at this time. If you are still experiencing this problem, please let us know.

I have the same problem with my iPad2. When I refresh for new messages, it indicates that it has downloaded X number of messages but those messages do not appear in the inbox. And every click of the refresh/get mail button would result in the same number of messages downloaded but, again, they are missing from the inbox.

As of 2/11/12, still have the problem. It can be cleared temporarily by deleting the IMPA account and re-creating it. After a day or two, mail stops=. Other mail clients are able to access the account, including iPhone. This seems to be related to MAC email and Godaddy IMAP. This is a serious problem for any MAC user who also relies upon Go Daddy IMAP.

Just wanted to check in and see if you still had issues connecting to the server. I use IMAP accounts on an iPad and iPad2 and have not encountered additional errors.
Keep us posted,

I started with this same issue on my Macbook Pro yesterday and it still is doing it today. My ipad and iphone are perfectly fine. I now have another employee with the same issue on her Mac Mini. Other people in my office on same domain with Macs are not having the issue. This is very frustrating.

Having similar IMAP issues… go daddy mailbox will pinwheel and lose message count…. will phantom lose messages then download all messages again. I have rebuilt mailbox, started with a new preference file, etc… same issue…. today in fact almost all day. Not having any issue on iPhone or outlook. Never had issue with Mac mail until the past few weeks.

@ray and @rtspc
I am going to have a member of our Support Team reach out directly to you and review the account. As this seems isolated to specific addresses, I hope that we are able to resolve this without further issue.
