issues with godady imap and Mac Mail

I am so happy to have found this thread, because I have been having the same issues for the past 1.5 months. GD says it is the mac mail client – very frustrating. My inbox starts to reload itself (over 5000 emails) and it takes roughly 3 hrs to do. All my settings are correct.
I will try to delete the acct. and start fresh – I am yet to try this.
GD really needs to figure this issue out. Not good my business or productivity.

This continues to be a problem. I created an incident report, and got the standard, boiler plate response that included how to set my email up for IMAP. C’mon Godaddy, I’ve been using this IMAP account for years, and haven’t forgotten how to configure it. Can someone over there actually look into this problem? It’s obvious I’m not the only one who is struggling with this.

If im reading this right, i think i had the same issue and solved it by UNCHECKING “use idle command if server supports it” in advanced settings.

we are experiencing the same problems and we are not using MAC computer we are using Windows XP and Windows 7 with Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010 and some IPHONES and SOME android phones.
when we check with iphones everything works fine but once and a while the inbox in outlook just does not get email and the folders disappear and not refresh even when we force the refresh, when we delete emails they are just marked and not deleted from server they keep showing with a strike trough line in the email and they purge after 24 hrs.
very annoying problems they started when we upgraded to IMAP from POP so we could check emails with different devices (Iphones, Android Phones, IPAD’s, and PC’s).
When we call tech support they just say everything is OK if you can use their web email and that if you need to make any business decision to change they will understand (not very professional) at the end same problem and no solutions..
Seems that the technical support by phone don’t know about what is going on and their answer is we will investigate but no straight answer never the less a solution…

I’ve just started having the same issue. I’ve used IMAP on a Mac for a few years now and this is the first time I’ve had this issue. I’m also having issues moving emails to folders. The error message says “The IMAP command “UID COPY” (to [FOLDER NAME]) failed for the mailbox “INBOX” with server error: COPY failed.”

I submitted a request for help, and got back a solution that has been working! It’s been 3 days (knock on wood) and no issues. Here’s the response I got from Cullen P at Go Daddy support:
“This is usually caused by the folders on the server not matching the folders on your email client. Please make sure that you have the exact same folder names to have them synch properly. If this does not resolve your issue please reply to this email with the steps required to duplicate the issue, as well as the full text of any error messages, and the specific URL, if applicable. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. To check folder names please log in to web based email.”
I logged in to the web based email and saw a folder called ‘inbox’ (I already have an Inbox folder, but for some reason there are two), and inside the mystery ‘inbox’ folder was ‘deleted messages’ folder. I trashed both of those, started Mail again and it’s been working great since then. I’ll post here if something changes, but so far all is well.
Hope this helps someone else too!

Im having the same problem, and haven’t figured out how to rename the godaddy system folders so they all match (as mentioned on the solution posted). Anyone have an idea of how to delete some of these folders or rename them? For example, I have a “sent_items” folder on godaddy, and a “sent” folder on my mac?
dundev said 1 year, 2 months ago:
@jansotelo I’m not sure you can rename the system folders. But you should be able to take the messages in “sent” and move them to “sent_items” – then delete “sent” and see if that resolves any issues.

I was having the same issue over the past few weeks and was watching this thread to see if they came up with a solution. But starting today I have been unable to send emails (on any of the GoDaddy provided ports).
I can use webmail, but that’s not a good solution going forward.
I have deleted the account and recreated it, but with no difference.

Its a shame that Godaddy is taking such a backseat response. I have the same issues as everyone else, that my godaddy imap account works fine on webmail and my iPhone, but 10% of my messages don’t make it through on macmail. I called GoDaddy who said that its Apple’s fault. Yet I checked with Apple who said everything is correct on their end. I called back GoDaddy who said that their servers are correct and they can’t help me.
terafirma said 1 year, 2 months ago:
I called GoDaddy again last week and they said they were unaware of any issues. When I volunteered to send them to this thread they were uninterested. So at this point it’s become willful ignorance of their own business. Unfortunately I’ve already paid them for hosting services for the next few years, so moving my service does nothing to motivate them to fix the problem any time soon.

We have the same problem with Mac mail not showing up all the time when it does show on the iphone. I have had to quit mail and reload to fix it before as well as rebuild. The other problem that I have been having the past week is if I delete email on my iphone they still show on my iMac. This morning I deleted 10 emails on my iMac and they we download again right away. I had to delete them like 5 times each? Another intermittent issue I have is on XP with Outlook Express. The email will send but it times out right away when it tries to move the message to the sent folder. Doesn’t happen all the time but lately it’s more often than not. I have to later go in and manually move the emails to the sent folder.

I just started having the issue with moving (or deleting) file multiple times before it seems to get through to the Go Daddy server. I’ve moved messages to folders on my cell phone and on my MacBook and those messages continue to show as read, but un-deleted or moved messages in my inbox. The messages moved to other folders also appear in those other folders.

I am having the same problem, or very similar. It started in the last week, and is not related to any Mac system upgrade, which has not happened for over a month. I am assuming GoDaddy has changed something in its IMAP settings. I have two GoDaddy IMAP email accounts. Suddenly when I check for new mail, Mac Mail downloads the messages, and I read and delete them. But they are not being deleted on GoDaddy web mail, so my Mac Mail keeps on downloading them over and over again. This is new (and extremely annoying, and time consuming) behavior. I don’t know what to do, I’m wasting hours on this every day and it’s totally screwing up my email too.
