issues with godady imap and Mac Mail

I have had the same issues and followed all tests both here on godaddy and in other mac forums. It seems to be a mac issue with godaddy with no fix as it has been happening for nearly 18 months.
I followed it up with multiple ISPs in Australia and still no fix. It doesnt leave much of an option other than to switch supplier. And it also doesnt help when godaddy say they cant see a problem. Surely the people in their forums aren’t all wrong.

I just got off the phone with GD support. They essentially blame the issue on IMAP technology (being too old). They don’t want to address the fact that this isn’t an issue w/other email service providers. All this while saying they take the issue very seriously.
They first wanted me to verify that this wasn’t an issue on webmail (duh), but when I specifically asked about working with the Mac Mail program the issue was blamed on Apple, so I’m looking for a new email service provider.

Very very frustrating.
Please if anyone has any fixes for iMail on Snow Leopard – i am up for suggestions. GodDaddy support was empathetic but no help!

Hello! I’m having this issue as well on my Mac using Mac Mail. It will often say that I cannot read data from the server imap.secureserver.net, but if I restart the program, it will come back up with no issues.
If someone could contact me regarding this issue that would be great!

Thanks for all of your input on the errors you have been receiving. We are constantly reviewing the servers, and our Advanced Technical Team has offered this advice: Reset the password of the email address being effected. After this, remove and re-add the profile form your mobile device/client. From the cases we have had reported to our Live Support teams many have indicated their issues resolved after attempting these steps.
If you are still encountering issues after attempting this, we are advising that members please reach out to our Live Support via phone or email indicating that you have already attempted the solution advised by our advanced support. We will need to gather the following information from you so that we can further investigate the issues that are still occuring:
• The email address affected.
• The device being used,
• The mobile device provider/Carrier,
• Clarification on the issues appearing through 3G/4G or WiFi connections (or Both).

I am having this same problem with Outlook for Mac. Can you share a solution? I have tried changing every port, verified all account data, changed ssl options with port changes etc…no luck! I can get to my mail through iCal, my droid and webmail. Please help.

The solution posted by Jason did not work for me. Contacting Godaddy support yet again. I’m determined to resolve this issue so I don’t have to migrate to Outlook.

I am still investigating any issues that may be blocking the client from connecting, however the information in my last post is still the best solution I have.
@melinadm
Have you contacted the Support Team and had the address synced? This might help as well.

I was able to solve my Apple Mail issue where all my emails were being downloaded again periodically. I changed my password and removed and re-entered the GoDaddy account into Apple Mail. So that’s a relief now that this is fixed.
However, my boss (whose email is also GoDaddy IMAP) and I are having this issue where emails sometimes appeared garbled. This happened to him all the time with emails that had attachments but never happened to me until I used the above fix. Now it is happening to me on the occasional email with an attachment (specifically a microsoft word document), and it’s still happening to him. One thing we have both tried is to rebuild the GoDaddy Inbox in Apple Mail. This temporarily solves the issue as the email gets reloaded correctly and ungarbled. However new email will still come in garbled. And to make things even more puzzling, the email always appears fine when we log into email.secureserver.net.
A second issue, and I’m not sure if this is related or not, is that some emails will appear in Mail without any attachments. The attachment is there when we go into email.secureserver.net, but it is not in Apple Mail. Rebuilding the mailbox does not solve this issue. Any help please?

Same issue. Has happened on/off since the beginning. There is no solution. Can’t receive mail newer than 5/13/12. I am ready to quit. The GoDaddy system just doesn’t work well. We do web hosting as well and it is problematic. Great service – not so great products.

I am having the same type of problems. Can usually send with no problem, one computer has intermittent problems sending and checking mail, one computer has consistant problems sending. Both computers send fine using our cox.net emails. Tried tech support checking settings with no luck.

Just happened again on my setup. However this time it was a 12-hour ‘outage’ where emails did not sync. Now it’s back up. I’m hoping to find some kind of pattern to why this happens. This issue seems to have started some time this year. Prior to that everything was working just fine.

I’m still having problems with my Mac mail account and godaddy. The mailbox crashes all the time and wont receive email until I restart mac mail and the mailbox message size just keeps counting up and down. The second problem I have is the outboud e-mails not going through until I restart. This has been going on for months I’ve called godaddy support, tried a few fixes and I’m still having the same issues.

I am able to receive emails but I can no longer send them. It worked one day, and now it doesn’t. The outgoing SMTP is what it is supposed to be but I can’t send. Any suggestions?

@tsl
If you are unable to connect , try changing the port.
Using Apple Mail with Your Email
On a site note, our Developers have identified a bug with how our servers process the delete command from certain email clients. Thank you to all that contacted our Support Teams to provide examples of this. I have confirmed that our Developers are currently working to resolve this issue, but they did not have a timeframe for when they will be able to resolve this issue. In the meantime, it has been reported that forcing an expunge or a sync from your email client should properly remove the emails from our servers.
