Message rejected by SMTPOUT but not by Webmail

Some messages with a link to a photo are “554 rejected” when sent via SMTPOUT but the same message (with the same link) sent via Webmail is not rejected. Are GoDaddy’s rejection rules different on each or am I missing something?

We have updated the filtering on most of the SMTP servers, and some may need to be adjusted, this is why it seems like different methods of sending the message yield different results. Please forward a copy of the bounce, as well as the original message, to support@godaddy.com.

This is really causing me grief. It seems any emails with links are being rejected. Here is a couple links that cause the message to fail — a couple baseball pitching instruction videos on youtube:

OK. I forwarded a copies of both messages to support.

We’ve seen this problem repeatedly for some time. My sister-in-law uses GoDaddy Webmail and often, messages that she sends to my wife are “554 rejected” when my wife attempts to forward those messages using Outlook 2007 via GoDaddy SMTPOUT. I use GoDaddy IMAP with Outlook 2007 and have the same problem sending those messages via SMTPOUT.

I’ve sent a message with one of your pitching links to a non-GoDaddy acct from my Outlook on GoDaddy and after 25 minutes Three Copies of the same message were delivered!! I then sent the same message from Webmail and it arrived instantly. Something must be messed up on GoDaddy’s filter with messages via SMTPOUT.

did you forward in the complete bounceback message? Also make sure to include the headers so we can review the latency.

I haven’t heard back from support that this bug was fixed, but I’ve re-sent several messages a few times from Outlook which previously bounced and they no longer bounce. Did this bug mysteriously vanish or did GoDaddy fix it?

I spoke too soon. I’ve again re-sent messages from Outlook which previously bounced and they again bounced. It appears this bug is intermittent.

I know that filters were adjusted, however it would seem that the fix did not address all of the servers. This is why it would appear to be intermittent. I know you stated that you have not had a response, however it is critical for our Team to get the bounces so we can make the correct adjustments.

It seems to be fixed. I’ve checked again several times and my same messages sent again from outlook are no longer rejected by your servers. I have previously forwarded everything to support. I’m not sure what you mean by “the bounces”. When your servers rejected the message I sent through outlook, I got the generic outlook “554 rejected” message in my outlook inbox. This message did not have a header and this rejection message did not appear in my workspace mail inbox. When I sent the same rejected message from my workspace mail, it was not rejected, perhaps because it went through a different server than the outlook message did.

That is correct. As for the bounced messages, we have been reviewing the bounce, including the content of the original message to set the filters.
