MX Records Change
rjs1123 said 1 year, 3 months ago:
I signed up with GoDaddy yesterday and had my MX Records changed about 5pm yesterday. The rep at GoDaddy told me the change would take about 4-6 hours to take place in order for me to start receiving emails.
I just checked and it still hasnt switched over. Not a big deal for today but if it is not changed over by tomorrow morning I am going to start losing business. Please let me know if something can be forced to make the change.
Thanks,

@rjs1123,
While typically it takes about 4-6 hours, it could take up to the full 48 hours for the change to complete. Can you provide the domain name in question so we can review whether or not the information is showing in a DNS lookup?
Thanks.

Domain name is:
Allphaseny.com

@rjs1123,
When I view the domain in a third-party DNS lookup, it doesn’t appear that the MX records are correct. The following are what is showing:
0smtp.secureserver.net. [Preference = 10]
10mailstore1.secureserver.net.allphaseny.com. [Preference = 1]
Your domain’s MX records should be smtp.secureserver.net (Priority 0) and mailstore1.secureserver.net (Priority 10). The host name associated with the MX records should be the @ symbol. You’d want to contact your current registrar to update that info.

@Mike
I made the change to the MX records myself just now. FYI, I copied into the destination the same way GoDaddy had it listed. I am hoping it will be 4-6 hours from here. When would be a good time for you to do another DNS lookup to see if this is pending. Please let me know, thanks for your help in finding that.

@rjs1123,
When I view the domain in a DNS lookup, it now is reporting the following MX records:
smtp.secureserver.net.allphaseny.com
mailstore1.secureserver.net.allphaseny.com
These records are still not correct. You would need to remove the “.allphaseny.com” from the end of each MX record.

@Mike
You may see another reply from me as I didnt think it went through.
I understand and know where to remove it but if I do that what do I enter in for the source? This is how Hostway / Sitemail directed me yesterday. Do I just leave that area blank?

@rjs1123,
I’m not sure how Hostway’s DNS console works or is formatted. You may want to contact them for more assistance.

I will try, they are not that good.
rjs1123 said 1 year, 3 months ago:
I forgot a “.” at the end. It should look good now, please confirm.

@rjs1123,
I checked the domain’s MX records in a DNS lookup, and they look like they should be correct. You may want to go into your Email Control Center, open each email address, and click OK again to see if they will search for the new MX records, and possibly become active.

@Mike,
OK, it is now showing as active and I received a email from Godaddy. Does this mean I am still waiting 6 hrs to receive emails from the outside or is it now done & changed over?
mike42 said 1 year, 3 months ago:
@rjs1123,
If the email addresses are showing as active, you should be all set! You should be able to send and receive with no issues at this point.
Thanks for the patience!

@realdesign1
DNS settings can only be made within the account the domain is registered within. I have checked your current MX settings and it appears that they are properly configured for our Asia email region.
