All of a sudden the outing portion of my emails no longer works. Can someone please help me try o figure out why? It was previously working, and nothing was changed on the computer.

Thanks,
Joe

@taat2d,

Could you elaborate more on the specific issues you have been encountering with email? How exactly have messages stopped sending? Was there a specific error message being generated each time you tried sending?

Also, have you tested sending the email message through any other client or even our web based email interface to see if similar issues are occurring?

Hi Christopher.

When I try to send an outgoing mail using my GoDaddy account it give me an error message. It says to check the SMTP settings and to verify the settings. It then asks me to using a different outgoing mail server from the list, gmail or Verizon. If I use one of these, then the mail will send.

I hope this is enough information to get this resolved.

Thanks
Joe

@taat2d,

Have you tried sending through any other ports while using our SMTP Relay services? We currently allow traffic to go through ports 25, 80, and 3535. You could also try port 465 with SSL enabled. It’s possible that the ISP may have made a recent change that prevents traffic from the previous port setting you were using.

I am assuming the ISP would be Verizon since you mentioned sending through their relay just fine?

Yes Chris, I do have Verizon.

I have no idea what you mean by using different ports to send the mail. Can you please explain that to me and also, how to set that up?

Thanx

@taat2d,

Ports are generally specified during the setup of your email address inside of a mail client. But since you are using an Apple Macbook, I’m guessing you have an Apple Mail client which sets this up to default ports in our general walk through.

Using Apple Mail with Your Email

However, you can override the default ports by following these steps:

• From the Mail menu, select Preferences.
• Click Accounts.
• In the Accounts list, select the email account you want to use.
• From the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop-down menu, select Edit Server List.
• Click Advanced.
• Select Use custom port, and then enter one of the following:

Without SSL — 25, 80, or 3535
With SSL — 465

If using an SSL, select Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).

• Click OK.

Let us know how that works out.

I tried your suggestion and it still does not work. I then removed with the mail account with the intention of reinstalling it, and now I can’t even reinstall it. It’s not working. I followed along with the steps on the go daddy website.

Can someone please help me get this mail working again on my MacBook Pro? This is my MAIN email, and can’t afford NOT to get my messages.

Thanks
Joe

@taat2d,

Earlier in this thread I asked if you had tested your mail account through any other mail client, such as our web mail interface. Based on the errors you are indicating with re-adding the profile to your Apple Mail client, it is beginning to sound like the issues are specific to the local installation of the client.

Just to confirm if you are still able to access the account for sending and receiving messages, I would recommend trying our web mail interface just to be sure the account itself is still working.

Checking Workspace Email

If you cannot view or send messages from this interface, I would strongly recommend reaching out to our Live Support via phone or email so we can further investigate the issues with the email address specifically being affected.

I too am having the very same issue. Macbook using Mail. Emails are coming and going from my gmail client using my work address. But on “Mail” I can only receive emails, not send. Same SMTP issue. My server was smtpout.europe.secureserver.net using port 80, no SSL.

I’ve tried ports 25, 80 465, 587 & 3535. Tried SSL on and off on all. Even tried no authentication.

The last email I was able to send was on the 11th of May. Same problem as OP as it’s my primary work email address.

@paul_breen,

Have you also tested your account through any other email client including our own web mail interface? If similar sending issues are occurring in these clients as well, I would again urge reaching out to our Live Support so we can further investigate the account.

This is also a problem I am having. I can still send emails with this webmail account using my iphone but the mail center on my macbook pro is no longer sending out emails, but is receiving.

Ok let me see if I can tell you what I did. When Mail asked if I wanted to edit the SMTP server, I first changed the port to ssl 465 as Chris_g was talking about but then, I choose instead of “use default ports 25,something, 465″ I choose to use a custom port SSL, then I put in 465 and it asked for verification, I choose password, put in my email and password and now it works. I hope this helps my language for computers is not very sophisticated.

Well now I can send emails but not receive them! Exactly the opposite of what I had before.

@aafreeman,

Could you elaborate more on the specific issues you have been encountering with receiving email? Is there an error message being generated within Apple Mail when you attempt to connect? Also, can you verify if the address you are attempting to connect with is using POP3 or IMAP for receiving?
