Webmail does not display correctly in Chrome
Mike Rusk said 2 years, 3 months ago:
I have to use webmail to access my email accounts during the day. I have been using Google Chrome but in the last week or so I noticed the checkboxes and action icons no longer show up in Chrome. I had to switch to IE to view the email.
Is there a new version of webmail that is no longer compatible with Chrome or is Chrome doing something that makes webmail not work?

@MikeRusk
What version of Google Chrome are you using? I checked my web-based email in Chrome 8.0.552.237, and did not see any issues. Let us know what version you are using so we can see if there are any issues with compatibility.
Thanks!

My Chrome version is the same. I am running on Windows 7 Professional (last updated 1/21).
I took screen shots of the webmail page but I can’t attach them to the post.
Thanks.

@MikeRusk
Unfortunately, you cannot attach screen shots to the Community post. However, I recommend forwarding these directly to our Support Team directly and they can review these.
Best of luck!

I would try two things. First clear your cache and then make sure your content settings allow images and JavaScript. To do this
1. Go to Tools>Options and click the under the hood tab.
2. Click the Clear browsing data button.
3. Check Empty the cache, Clear data from this period: Everything, click the Clear browsing data button.
(now your cache is clear)
4. Now click Content settings.
5. In the Features list, make sure both images and JavaScript are allowed to run on all sites. (If there is some reason for these to be disabled, you can add secureserver.net as an exception.)

Thank you “DS” for the suggestion. I cleared Cache, my content settings were already set as you suggested. I navigated to webmail and all the checkboxes, etc. are displaying correctly.
Thank you very much,
-Mike

I tried the steps in DS’s post; but after I log back into Webmail, all buttons and checkboxes and icons (e.g.,, attachment paperclip) display as blank, silvery rectangles.
Chrome 17.0.963.56 m

That’s the same version of Chrome that I’m using, and I have no issue with my Webmail. Do you have any extensions or themes installed on your browser? These can sometimes affect things.

I am running Chrome-to-Phone and AdBlock Plus. No themes. I’d attach a screen shot, but….

I’m running Chrome-to-Phone and AdBlock Plus. Nothing else. No themes. I don’t have this problem at home, on a WinXP machine.

Have you tried disabling those two plug-ins to see if that resolves it?
- Baillee
david_artman said 1 year, 2 months ago:
Disabled them; still not working. I’d be surprised if this bug wasn’t reported a LOT more, if those plugins (>1M installs; probably orders of magnitude more) caused it.

Update: I gritted my teeth and launched IE (9) for the first time in years, and the problem is identical. A few buttons render correctly (Go, Move, Create Filter, Flag, View Header, View Source, and Apply), but the rest of the buttons and icons (e.g., attachment paper clip icon) are small rectangles. IE9 is running as out-of-the-box as one can imagine (first launch after full update, no plugins).

@david_artman
Is it possible that you have some anti-virus or firewall on your computer that could be causing this? We are not showing any reported issues of this.
