I began using Express Email Marketing in May 2009. I started a Frequent Diners Club at my restaurant with the express purpose of gathering contact info from my customers. While my original intent was to do mailings, I found that the email marketing was much more affordable, and environmentally conscious which is important to my clientele. I found the initial upload of my database to be somewhat problematic. All names were placed in the first name column. Now perhaps this was user error, but I find the help system express to be about as close to useless as I’ve ever seen. On my first attempt at creating a newsletter (after creating my database) I spent quite a lot of time with tech support while they discovered that there is a bug with express and IE8. They escalated my ticket, and said they’d work on it. Almost a year has passed, and there still is no fix as far as I know. Use of the program reminds me of the early days of website tonight. You can make it work, but you need to have low expectations, and infinite patience. I haven’t seen any updates, or new versions in all this time, and that frustrates me. I am paying for this service, and it appears to be a lonely step-child, ignored by it’s parents. As far as the efficacy of the program and the cost vs benefit, I couldn’t be more pleased. I have more than 1300 verified list members, and have overwhelming positive response from the newsletter. I would like to be able to reproduce the newsletter in PDF format, so I can make archive copies of it on my website, but thus far I have completely failed at figuring it out. (see above about the help system). Overall, it’s a product with fabulous potential. Let’s hope it doesn’t end up like a teen with ‘potential’ who spends the rest of his life in jail.

clever_michell,
I’m sorry that your request has come under def ears. I will track down your ticket and look into it in detail. We’ve got some new exciting updates coming to Express Email Marketing over the next few months that will allow that teen to “grow up”. Based on what you’re currently using it for, I think you’ll be impressed.
thank you and happy emailing

We are about to release a new 3.0 version of Express Email Marketing! This will be available for purchase if you choose to do so and once your account is setup you will have the capability of migrating over all of your existing contacts. All of your Express Email Marketing 2.0 campaigns and surveys will move over to 3.0 in a Draft status. You will still have the ability to view all of your reporting and data in a read only form of your Express Email Marketing 2.0 account. We have 150 new upgraded templates to choose from and an updated look. You will also receive our Contact Manager and Site Survey products for free by purchasing Express Email Marketing 3.0! All of your subscribers will be managed using our Contact Manager application and the Surveys will now be available in our Site Surveys application. We have been working on minor releases to fix issues customers are having with Express Email Marketing 2.0 but since we are upgrading to 3.0 we aren’t planning to add any new features to the 2.0 product. I hope you’ll come join us in 3.0 in the coming weeks when it is released. Thank you for your continued patience and support!

I was told by technical support I would have to upgrade to GoDaddy’s “Express Email Marketing” to use complex HTML and remote images. Well I did find a unique and easy way to do it right in GoDaddy’s “WORKSPACE” V5.2 web based email. All of the images in my emails are hosted on my web site and are not attachments. After you compose creating templates is a breeze. Images can link to web pages on my personal web site or anywhere else. To see an example of what I am doing and if this is what you need please email me at peat@ipsna.com and I will send you a sample email to see if this is what you might work for some. I even have an active Google search bar embedded right under my logo.

I’ve used Express Email Marketing several times a month for a long time, and am really anxious for an upgrade. I use it to market my clients, and the limitations of the old fashioned templates are frustrating. I frequently end up designing an ad and then just uploading it as a photo for the client instead of using a template. I was told a year ago that a new version was coming that would be competitive with Constant Contact, but I’ve yet to see it. I even offered to be a beta tester.
I just read through this forum and see that it still isn’t out when it has been planned to be. When can we expect it, and why can’t we upgrade the one that we have? It seems crazy that we would have to migrate everything over ourselves. Any update and hope you can give me would be appreciated! Otherwise, the product works great, but since I use other Go Daddy products, like Website Tonight, I’m spoiled by frequent (although sometimes glitchy) upgrades!

anyone else get really excited about not having to switch to constant contact and then not so much after running into a lot of problems using the new templates?
maybe im back to illustrator and doing it all myself. ugh. or constant contact… make this work you guys! please! Some sample text boxes wont input new text, some dont transfer over, sometimes the whole thing just disappears. and its not b/c I used word to import text. I did once, but still had the issues after i started using notepad instead.

If you were using the “Subtle Summer Message” template we did find and fix a behavior similar to the one you describe. If you still have any issues feel free to message me or contact our support, we appreciate your feedback and want to make sure you can get the most out of the NEW templates.

I used the new professional design templates tonight for the first time. They are beautiful, and offer considerable variety BUT the text boxes are a BIG problem, and need to be fixed by somebody SOON. I could not change font sizes, which was REALLY frustrating, and diminished the “professional” aspect of the layout and email. I am very familiar, almost too familiar, with the old templates, where changing the font sizing was no problem. This needs to be fixed pronto, or you will have some very disgruntled users. At times the text box wouldn’t even allow me to change the font COLOR, which is unacceptable. Once text box showed the default as black, but it came out white, even after repeated attempts to change it. I finally gave up & left it white, but it was on a light background…not good at all!

The code is a complete mess on these emails. I was hoping to set my html-illiterate client free to create her newsletters once I created her custom template. Instead I have to clean up the code every month. It produces such beauties as:
Text goes here.

It also adds phantom styles to my tags even though there is no style sheet in the code.

Thank you so much for all of your feedback! A decision was made to not release the 3.0 version of Express Email Marketing which would require our users to migrate their accounts. Instead we decided to implement 150 new professionally designed templates into the current version. We are working hard to upgrade the entire product in small pieces which won’t cause you to ever have to migrate your account over. So please watch for more exciting improvements to come.
Also, regarding your post about changing font sizes and font colors, can you please respond back with the template names you were having troubles with? I tried several and was able to change the font size and font color. However, we’ve been running into quirky little issues that are only displaying with certain templates and working perfectly with others. We would appreciate as much info as you can provide so we can get these fixes out to you asap.
Thank you again for the feedback and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks for the update, and for not making us have to migrate everything over; much appreciated by busy, fast-moving small businesses like ourselves! I can’t name which templates gave me issues because I just quickly abandoned one that was a problem and then moved on to another one. That said, from now on I’ll record the problems and let you know.
I do like the professional templates because they save a lot of time. One suggestion I’d like to make after using them for a month is that the photo and text boxes need the flexibility to be resized as needed. I find myself literally hunting through the professional templates looking for one that will fit the photos that I need to use, and then having to resize it precisely to fit. The text boxes get bigger as you add text to them, but if you need less text, it stays the same size with a big blank section without text.
Also, there needs to be greater flexibility on background colors. Otherwise, much improved; thank you!!!!

I new to email marketing but a HTML writter since the ’90s.
Before I signed up for a month subscription I thought I would get the newsletter ready. I did, now it’s taking me longer to figure out what is causing all the extra HTML code to pop in. I understand GoDaddy wants to add some items but breaks apear all over, I never use this for spacing, where does it get the idea to add them?
