Unsubscribe

Hi,
I have a subscriber who contacted me to say that she was no longer receiving my organizations email blasts. I looked up her address, and it was flagged as unsubscribed. She claims she did not unsubscribe, and I believe her as she has no reason to do so and is a manager in our group who needs our emails.
Is there any way that I can just add her back to the subscriber list? When I try it tells me this address has been unsubscribed and won’t let me add it.
Do I have to direct her to fill out my website form and opt in all over again?
Does the status of “unsubscribe” always mean that the person actually clicked the unsubscribed link? Or is there another reason why the system would flag is as such?
Also her address is at gmail. Does this make any difference?

It may be possible that the email you sent out to them could have bounced back, which would have caused them to be unsubscribed. Typically, the other reason that they would be unsubscribed would be that they manually did so themselves. At this point, you would need them to opt in again to reset them as a subscriber.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Under what circumstance would an active, verified email address in EMM bounce? I send to her address frequently from my personal account and have had no problems with it. She has been getting personal emails from me regularly with no issues, no bounces, no nothing. Any insight you can provide is appreciated.

An email can bounce for many reasons such as their mail box being full, or their mail server being down, or treating your campaign as spam and rejecting it. Be sure to look at the account settings page under the main home menu and see what you have set at the bottom of the page for handling bounced messages. EEM will only count a bounce against you if the recipient mail server rejects your campaign as spam, or the email address is invalid. The simple solution would be just have the subscriber opt back into the list by filling out the opt in form again. You can get that url if you don’t have it by going under opt-in magnet, add subscriber link and copy the url from in that page.
