Can Seller cancel auction that has bids?

For the second time with the same seller and the same domain name, I was the highest bidder on an auction (out of several bidders), and the seller cancelled the auction 30 minutes before it was set to end. The domain name was immediately re-listed at the same starting bid price, set to end in like 30 days. To be clear, I’ve been the winner bidder twice after waiting 30 days for a domain to expire. And both times the seller pulled the auction within minutes of closing.

So, let me get this straight, a buyer CANNOT back out once they place a bid, but a seller can play games as much as they want by 1. setting a low asking price > 2. cancelling even after that price is met, and not honoring the auction (despite the fact that the buyer has committed and can’t back out), > and 3. re-listing and repeating the whole process over again, and again, and again… each time duping buyers in the process.

It’s entirely possible that I’m missing something. However, I have been buying/selling domains for 13 years and I currently hold a portfolio of approximately 550 domains. So if I’m confused by this, other people are sure to be.

@blastyblast

It could be possible that the seller had set a reserve price and that price was not met.

Why didn’t I win my auction?

If a seller lists a domain and the reserve price is not met, the seller will have the option to re-list the domain.

It would be nonsense for the seller to claim that the reserve price has not been met if he has not allowed the auction to complete.
