Are you happy with Godaddy?

No

I would look for another hosting provider. They tools and website at GoDaddy are good and easy to use, but their servers are just too unreliable. My site goes down at least once a week for 30-120 minutes. Not so great when you have customers trying to use your site 24/7. I’ve been with them for only 3 months and I’m ready to leave.
Their first line support staff don’t really know much and don’t have the tools/information to help you. I keep complaining about the downtime and they reply “It’s working now, I don’t see any problems”, instead of actually trying to resolve why my site was actually unavailable. I used to be a web.com customer, they are worse though. meh.

@nick31,
I can tell you that we have not had any reports of issues that would cause a website to go down once a week. Shared servers do have sporadic issues that are normally fixed in a very timely fashion. Are you still having issues?

Hi Nick…
I’m far from knowing what “shared servers” mean, but I’m guessing it’s just a single server hosting more than one website…
Can I ask you… Do search engine spiders frown on this & not put you at the top of the search results if your site is hosted on a “shared server”?

Email I just sent to Go Daddy:
I am done with Go Daddy. One must be so careful as to not purchase something accidentally on this site. It’s either multiple years registration or private registration or any other multitude of things. It has gotten ridiculous! I was trying to renew some of my domain names and my shopping cart reflected additions of private registrations that I could not remove. It is much too cumbersome and time consuming to deal with your site any longer. I used to recommend your site to all my friends, but you screwed one of them on their first purchase. Her name is G.Dupuy and she ACCIDENTALLY ordered a 2 year domain (because you set it on a 2 year default) on one of her purchases when it is a domain name that she absolutely will not need for more than just a few months at the most and neither of the Go Daddy representatives she talked to, one being a supervisor, would help her by removing the purchase. It’s ridiculous! I am done, done, done and I USED to be a happy, content, wouldn’t go anywhere else customer.
Tonya
ps Once I find another option, you can bet your bottom dollar I will be referring all those people (that I used to refer to your site) to them!

@cGREGgo,
You can get picked up on search engines being on a shared server. However, getting to the top can be quite tricky without actually buying an advertisement spot directly from the search engine. Our Search Engine Visibility tool (http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/traffic_blazer/landing.asp) is a great way to get started in optimizing your site to be search engine friendly.
@tbveazey,
Sorry to hear about your negative experience. The thing is with domain registrations is once it is actually registered with the Registry, it’s pretty much locked in. However, we are very good at refunding almost all of our other products if they are not needed. We highly value your feedback and I will definitely pass your information on to the appropriate parties.
Hope you both have a good day.

I used to be happy when everything worked. I have made contact with the company trying to resolve an issue and NOBODY can help me. My emails won’t send. They’ve now put me on another service ticket so eventually someone will get back with me… when their coffee break is over.. or they have nothing better to do… while I wait for help..Errr. Good luck I hope you have a better experience.

@Olson,
I hate to hear that our Support Team was unable to help you. Can you briefly describe the issue? Maybe someone here can further assist.

I have my old website & it’s database burned on CD. My old host zipped it up & mailed it to me. The programmer with all the database connections passed away so for the last year, I’ve only done what I can do using microsofts expression web trying not to destroy anything he’s done. I won’t know how to fix it if I destroy it, hehe ![]()
So… How in depth does your support team go? Would they do things like adding tables & relationships to the database fields? Making pages on the site displaying these fields? If your tech support doesn’t go this far, does godaddy have programmers available for hire to do these type things? I’m just about finished drawing up all the images of how I want the new site to look & getting close to taking the next step…

@cGREGgo,
Unfortunately, our Support can not go this far with your website. We do have a Design Group that can take what you currently have and work with it. The only drawback is, they do not work on databases yet. If your still interested in finding out more about those plans, see the following:
https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/dream_website.asp
If that type of plan doesn’t suite your needs, you might also want to reach out to a freelance designer/site builder. We can always just host your site and you can let someone else do the leg work.

I have been fairly happy with godaddy until yesterday when they send me a notice that my ms access database is too big and the limit is 25MB. They stated that you can have as many access database as you can upload, but I guess it’s ok not to mention anywhere on the site including the place where you sign up that the limit is 25MB each. Maybe they were expecting people who use MS Access database to split their table into multiple databases.

I would not recommend getting a dedicated server with GoDaddy as they do not offer any support on them.
