ASP.Net 4.0

When could we expect godaddy to have ASP.NET 4.0 available for windows hosting
bhargett said 3 years, 1 month ago:
Not to harass, but can you give any kind of measurement on how long it took to add 3.5. I am just wondering, because I am about to start developing my site and it will take a few months so if I should start with 4.0 I would be happier because I like the bleeding edge. But if godaddy won’t get it until October then I will just do 3.5.

@bhargett,
Unfortunately, nothing is set in stone yet and we can comment on future releases. However, I can assure you ASP.NET 4.0 is being looked into! Hopefully this can be implemented soon.
Also, welcome to the Community.

any status on when 4.0 will be enabled, my renewal is up soon and i’m trying to decide if I should go elsewhere.

I’m in the same boat. I’d like to stick with GoDaddy but they seem to drag their feet on staying up to date with current Microsoft releases. It would be nice to at least be given an idea of when they are planning to provide new version support and what the issue(s) is with not having done it already. It’s hard to make plans with no information at all.

@robmit and Kenny Rice,
Unfortunately, I do not have any new information on this release. I will get with someone in our Hosting Team to see if we have any updates and let you guys know. Thanks for your patience!

Any update? I would say I need to know just because I am a paying customer.
However, the more compelling reason is: I have switched over to vs2010 Asp.Net4/MVC for all of my new customers and the new site I am bringing online for myself. I need to know a timeline as to when you will be bringing asp.net4 online for hosted environments (which isn’t that huge of an upgrade guys/gals). Its bad enough I have to be stuck with sql2005 still ![]()
Regardless, as the info is now needed. I just purchased some new domains, I am in the testing phase of a new webapp/site, and will be ready to deploy shortly. I need to know if I must go purchase alternate hosting, transfer domains, blah… blah…
So let me know so I can either stay a GoDaddy customer or leave and go off to some other pasture.
By the way – please don’t bother with a “I don’t know” reply. That’s like telling me to go to … Get the necessary people involved and at least have them commit to something. Being non-committal to your customers is akin to telling them you don’t care about them, their businesses, or their business. I can’t tell a customer, gosh, well, I will have your website ready in 2weeks – 2years. They would ask why, and I would say…because I can’t get an answer from GoDaddy…They would then proceed to fire me, and me – you… We both lose… (Actually I wouldn’t lose, I would find them alternate hosting and therefore keep their business, you (GoDaddy) on the other hand would not get their business since I gave another site to sign up for hosting). So up some info ![]()

Ditto. Please provide some estimate as to when godaddy will support asp.net 4.0. I’m trying to decide if I should abandon my accounts and go with one of the others whom are more prompt with important updates like 4.0. It’s too bad we have to wait months, when one would expect godaddy has already worked with the beta and would be ready when the full release was made available the beginning of April.

Count me in too. I understand that the bleeding edge with MS has occasionally been disastrous, but VS 2010 is (for me at a least) a marked improvement in the development experience, and .NET 4.0 is a big part of that.
Is it a licensing issue?

I am certainly looking forward to getting this released. I am especially looking forward to uploading my MVC project.

Me too. my hosting is up for renewal in a month, Im thinking of switching if I don’t have dotNet4, MVC2 soon. I would like to know when godaddy is planning to move so that I can plan accordingly.

ASP.NET 4.0 is an important upgrade. When will GoDaddy have this available for hosting? I have a new reseller account & need 4.0 for current developments due to be released in the coming weeks. Why isn’t this released yet?
