My thanks to the GoDaddy team. I have upgraded to the Grid account – note that some features arent available (Access Database, Frontpage extensions, streaming video) – so check the FAQ before you upgrade.

I understand this took some time, but given the prices of GoDaddy compared to other provider’s I’ve been happy to wait and glad I didnt wait too long.

Just wanted to find out if we’ve upgraded to ASP.NET 4.0 yet, have we?

.NET 4.0 is already available to Windows Shared Hosting customers on our Grid Web Hosting offering. Existing customers that are not already on our Grid Web Hosting can change their plan at no cost.

Support for .NET 4.0 is crucial for me to stay with GoDaddy. Can you please provide us with an ETA for .NET 4.0 support?

@avgarrison

As Frank stated, it’s currently available on our Grid accounts. If you’re not on Grid, you should be able to upgrade/migrate from within your account. Select ‘Hosting’ under ‘My Products’ and click on the domain name in question. You can then change your plan from the ‘Edit Account Details’ tab. If you’re having trouble, please respond with details so we can help you out.

Just a fair warning that I found out after switching to grid.
For some yet unexplained reason the performance of my WordPress sites that I had hosted on my unlimited windows hosting took a huge performance hit after switching to Grid hosting.

As of yet GoDaddy has yet to say anything is wrong, but my main site shows in Google Web Master tools that the time spent download pages increased by about 10 times what it was previously. And it coincided right along with my switch to Grid.

My .NET sites work fine, load time didn’t change it’s just my Wordpress sites.

And now i’m stuck, because there is no way back once you switch to Grid. The only way back is to manually back up all my sites, buy a new hosting package, move my sites over to the new hosting and then ask for a refund from GoDaddy for the old package.

Just a fair warning if you are thinking of switching to Grid hosting to use .NET 4.0 and also have Wordpress sites.

Really sorry to hear about the poor performance of the Grid account. You might want to have our Support Team look this over as there was a known issue last week with certain Grid accounts having latency issues. I hope we can resolve this for you.

I’m leaving godaddy for WebHost! They offer updated Windows products. I think godaddy hasn’t been upfront about .net 4 release. godaddy doesn’t even offer SQL Server 2008!!!! I’m tired of waiting and falling myself behind the competition. WebHost is kinda new on the hosting block, so I will be slowly moving the clients over. Risky yes, but I need to move and not wait.

We certainly hate to see you go, but I hope you find a plan suitable for your needs. We also appreciate your feedback. If you need anything else from us at all, please do not hesitate to let us know.

This is pretty sad that asp.net 4 is still not supported after all this time. I am most definitely migrating to an more asp.net friendly host as soon as my hosting account expires.

@esassaman,

ASP.NET 4.0 is currently supported in our Grid Hosting environment. If you are using our Legacy Shared Hosting service, this will not be an option. Your plan will be labeled either Grid Hosting or Web Hosting in the description if you are using this service. Legacy accounts will only say Windows Hosting.

For more information on enabling ASP.NET on a Grid account, please see the article below:
