ASP.Net 4.0

Just jumping on board and bumping the thread. I’ll be leaving and heading to azure if we don’t get .net 4 asap.

Well, I am going to start bringing some of the new accounts online tomorrow with winhost.com They support asp 4.0, etc. I am a little concerned over bandwidth if any of the sites get too high, and db size limitations, but for the most part they are sound. I looked at discountasp.net since they advertise a lot on MS’s dev sites. They look decent as well, but they have these little ad gimmicks that makes my radar tickle. (ie go to their main site and they offer 3mo.s free, a link on the MS page will send you to a 6mo.s free, and yet another link I found set the monthly fee to $5/mo for life…That and then they “add” features at a cost, such as sql and extra bandwidth, etc). This in itself isn’t horrible, but all the adds brings up the cost per month up rather quickly.
winhost.com is fairly new, they responded very quickly to all emails, and I couldn’t find anything bad about them. They appear to have some sort of relationship with discountasp.net, but what, besides residing in the same building and using the same backbone is in question. I don’t like the fact that you can not reach a person other than email…But with all that done and said, they do not have a set contract signing, and its a month-by-month charge. So I believe I will try them out. Given godaddy’s lack of response, can’t get worse. Sad that there is a real lack of decently priced asp.net hosting.
I would love to find someone that has asp.net 4 hosting, and supported sql azure with decent bandwidth allotments (not looking for the fake “unlimited” bandwidth). Another thing for those looking at winhost – supposedly they can not handle multiple asp hostings under a single account. They can handle multiple domains or subdomains, but they way I understand it, if you want to host say aaa.com and bbb.com, and you don’t want it to share the same hosting environment, then you need 2 accounts. Not a deal killer for me at this point, but just a heads up, so others make sure you do your due diligence first (I could be wrong too).

I need asp.net 4 too please, have an application ready just waiting for godaddy now

I am also waiting and wondering when asp.net 4.0 will be available.

I’m waiting for this too. Need hosting for two new sites currently under development with asp.net 4.0. Those will be going up in June and if they go somewhere else I’ll move all sites I run so I can admin them in the same place. Hopefully we’ll at least get a timeframe in the next week since I have to make my decision (actually I was supposed to get a beta site created today which is why I found the problem)

I need it too. I am quite disappointed that godaddy has not even made a simple statement on availability to their customers.

Hey Guys,
I’m terribly sorry for the delay. I can assure you that we are working diligently on bringing this to our Hosting packages. We will keep you all posted on any new developments!

I am glad to hear this ClintS. I am developing a couple of projects and they are ASP.Net 4.0 and I will look into whether to renew with GoDaddy or move to another provider based on the availability of 4.0

Agreed. In my case simply knowing the time-frame would be useful. Is it likely to be :
a) A Month
b) Three Months
c) Six Months
Just knowing that would go along way toward planning our product’s upgrades.
